Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Koji Kobayashi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dino Medvidovic! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Medvidovic shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Kobayashi controls Medvidovic momentarily but Medvidovic frees himself. Kobayashi has control of Medvidovic's left arm, preventing Medvidovic from doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kobayashi looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Medvidovic wants to control from the top but Kobayashi keeps moving. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kobayashi is on top in guard.

Kobayashi wants to pass the guard but Medvidovic is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kobayashi with a flurry of punches that miss. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kobayashi is working Medvidovic over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Kobayashi wants to control from the top but Medvidovic keeps moving. Medvidovic looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kobayashi trying to control the position from guard on top but Medvidovic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kobayashi is in close to Medvidovic's body, working some short punches and elbows. Kobayashi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kobayashi stands and throws Medvidovic's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kobayashi misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Kobayashi is looking to take a break and control but Medvidovic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Medvidovic is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kobayashi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kobayashi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Kobayashi moves into full mount! Medvidovic should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Medvidovic looks gassed! Medvidovic is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Medvidovic is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Kobayashi fails to advance to Medvidovic's back. Kobayashi lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Kobayashi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Medvidovic is looking to escape. Medvidovic is in a horrible position here. Kobayashi smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Medvidovic tries to hold on but Kobayashi pushes him away. Kobayashi is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Medvidovic can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Medvidovic is rocked! Kobayashi working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Medvidovic looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Kobayashi! Submission of the night perhaps?
