Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Evan D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tai Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tai Chan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Evan D! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tai Chan! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chan tries to clinch up but D circles away and keeps his distance. Chan fails in his attempt to clinch. Chan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Chan is looking to clinch. Chan tries to close the distance and clinch up but D swats him away and circles back towards the center. Chan throws a head kick that misses. Chan is looking to clinch but D is avoiding it.
Chan tries to clinch up but D circles away and keeps his distance. Excellent takedown into side control there by D. D is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Chan manages to work his way to half guard, despite D's best efforts. Chan tries to roll over but D keeps him under control. D is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. D seems to be working for a kimura but Chan defends the submission attempt. D is working for a kimura but Chan is defending it quite comfortably.
Chan is trying to get back to full guard. D is keen to just control but Chan is a slippery customer. D blocks the strikes from Chan.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. D is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chan is just riding it out for now. D eventually gives up the hold. D is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chan has managed to free his arm - good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Chan tries to kick D off but D keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Chan tries to close the distance and clinch but D swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Chan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Chan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and D counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. D throwing strikes from guard but Chan blocks nicely. Chan looking to sweep here. No luck so far. D has gone for a leg lock! Chan slips out almost immediately though and dives into D's guard. D wants to stand but Chan is controlling the position. Chan trying to control the position from guard on top but D is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. D wants to stand up but Chan is controlling him. Chan is looking to work some ground and pound but D has wrist control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Chan is standing up over D. D looks to escape but Chan dives into side control.
Chan tries to move to mount but D blocks the move with his legs. Chan stands up and we're back to a striking position. D avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Chan gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Chan misses with a knee to the head. Chan connects with a nasty looking knee right to D's face.
Chan stops a takedown attempt from D.
D is breathing heavily. Chan using the Thai plumb to throw knees but D has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

D drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Chan gets the underhooks and prevents it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Evan D dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Chan clinches but D breaks the clinch and D counters with a nice double leg into guard. Chan thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Chan is looking for a triangle but D pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. D drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chan! Chan stands up. D keeps the fight on the outside. A head kick from Chan lands but D takes it in his stride. D shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chan as he jumps to the side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. D circles away from the clinch attempt and D counters with a shoot takedown. Chan fights it but they end up in guard. D drops back looking for a leg! Chan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chan manages to kick D off! D jumps back into Chan's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Chan wants to stand and escape but D is having none of it. Chan uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Tai Chan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chan tries to grapple but his opponent circles and D counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by D.
That's two minutes gone in the round. D thows a big elbow that misses. D throws and elbow that misses. Chan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in D's guard. Nice move by Chan! Chan tries to free his leg and advance position but D is retaining full guard. D pushes Chan off and scrambles back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Chan closes the distance but D moves to the side and D counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Chan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Chan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. D is working away from the top position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. D is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. D is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Chan has managed to free his arm - good work. D is working for a kimura but Chan is defending it quite comfortably.
Chan looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are battling for position here. Chan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Chan controls D momentarily but D frees himself. Chan keeping full guard, as D tries to pass. Chan wants to stand and escape but D is having none of it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. The fight stays on the outside here - Chan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Chan tries to clinch and D counters with a single leg into guard. Chan didn't expect that. Evan D overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. D trying to control but Chan is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Evan D dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Chan tries to grapple but his opponent circles and D counters with a takedown into side control. Chan is trying to get back to half guard. D looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. D is trying to get an arm triangle but Chan is defending well. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Chan gets back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. D thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Chan's head. D throwing shots but Chan is blocking nicely. Chan keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Chan wants to control but D is keeping busy.
Chan is trying to get back to full guard. D will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Chan looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Chan is looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. The fight moves into the clinch position. Chan stops a takedown attempt from D.
Chan creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through D's defenses. D drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chan pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Evan D. That's going to take a lot out of him. Chan tries to clinch but D moves away and D decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chan's guard. D stopping the sweep attempt from Chan. D drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Chan dives on top into guard. Chan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Chan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. D uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Evan D is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chan lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Chan doesn't manage to clinch there - D circles away.
D keeps the fight on the outside. D fails to land the takedown. Chan shoots and misses and D counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Chan gets full guard. D drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Chan dives on top into guard. D wants to stand but Chan is controlling the position. Chan stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chan tries to grapple but his opponent circles and D counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Chan working a defensive guard here.
D postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Chan is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of D, into his guard. Chan slips nicely into half guard. Evan D is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chan passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for D!
And that's the end of the fight! Evan D showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for D, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
