PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and SixDollar Burger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burger comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ghosts n' Stuff kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, SixDollar Burger!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burger shoots in for a takedown but Harris shows good takedown defense.
Burger keeps the fight on the outside.
Harris shoots for a takedown but Burger saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Harris moves into the clinch successfully.
Burger changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Harris fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Harris doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Burger counters by moving into the clinch.
Harris tries to pull guard but Burger won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anthony Harris. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Burger drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Harris gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Harris has had enough of the clinch but Burger keeps him there for the moment.
Burger is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Harris gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Burger using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Harris has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Burger controls from within his opponent's guard.
Harris has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Harris trying to keep a closed guard but Burger is proving a slippery customer.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Harris throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Harris is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Harris has Burger pulled in close to control his posture.
Harris will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Harris wriggles free and stands up.
Harris throws a head kick but Burger moves out of range.
Harris fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Harris.

Harris shoots in and drives through. Burger sprawls well.
Harris fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Burger gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Burger controlling Harris's posture.
Harris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Burger swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Burger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harris is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Burger is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Harris knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Burger on the ground.
Harris in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Burger keeping moving, preventing Harris from controlling successfully.
Harris working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Harris postures up in Burger's guard and throws a big left but Burger blocks it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Harris throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Harris instigates a clinch.

Burger is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Harris can't fight it off and eventually Burger manages to take the fight to the floor. Harris looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Burger sitting in guard, not really doing much.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Anthony Harris will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Harris closes the distance but Burger moves to the side

and Burger counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Harris!
Harris wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
You can see the frustration on Harris's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Harris prevents Burger from getting a body triangle.
Harris turns into Burger and is now in his guard.

Burger is looking for a triangle but Harris pushes his legs off easily.
Burger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Burger keeping moving, preventing Harris from controlling successfully.
Burger is breathing heavily.

Burger looking to hit a scissor sweep but Harris is one step ahead there.
Harris is looking to work some ground and pound but Burger has wrist control.
Burger avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Burger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Harris doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Harris manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Harris wants to control from the top but Burger keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Burger.

Burger is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Harris is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Burger decides to stand up, so the ref orders Harris to his feet.

and Burger counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Harris is trying to keep Burger in close.
Burger stands and throws Harris's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Harris is trying to buck Burger off.
Harris misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Harris wants to control but Burger postures up.
Harris sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Harris manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Harris can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Burger controls the pace.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Burger trying to control the position from guard on top but Harris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Burger stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Burger blocks a head kick by Harris.

SixDollar Burger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Harris tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Burger swivels and escapes.
Harris shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Burger as he jumps to the side.

Burger shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Harris's guard.
Burger tries to free his leg and advance position but Harris is retaining full guard.
Burger sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Harris looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Burger passes into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Harris is not content to let Burger control the position.

Harris tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Harris manages to work his way to half guard, despite Burger's best efforts.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harris wants to control but Burger is keeping busy.

Burger postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Harris to stand up.
Harris doesn't manage to clinch there - Burger circles away.
Burger throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Harris's waist but Harris gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Burger off to one side.
Burger avoids the head kick by Harris.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Harris lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like SixDollar Burger has been cut.
Harris has his takedown stuffed

and Burger counters with a shoot takedown. Harris fights it but they end up in guard.

Burger fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Harris, pushing him back against the cage.
Harris is looking to control Burger's arms but Burger gets an underhook and turns him. Now Harris has his back to the cage.
Burger manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Harris is trying to stall.
Harris goes for a takedown in the clinch but Burger prevents it.
Burger drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Harris gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Harris.

And that's the end of the fight!
SixDollar Burger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Burger has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
