Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jimmy Train! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Helio Graicie! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Train shoots in and bounces Graicie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Graicie has eaten all the pies! Graicie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Train pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Graicie is keeping the position for now. Train not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Graicie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Graicie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Train gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Train controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Train is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Train wants to pass the guard but Graicie is keeping the position. Train thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Train avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Train wants to control from the top but Graicie keeps moving. Graicie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Graicie working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Train. Train throwing strikes from guard but Graicie blocks nicely. Train throws a big right hand that misses. Graicie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Train defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Graicie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Train is aware though and is defending well. Graicie escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Train gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Graicie looks gassed! Train with a flurry of punches that miss. Train trying to control but Graicie is working from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Train throws a right and a left that Graicie avoids nicely. Train looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Train is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Train in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Graicie tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Train!
