PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Marv (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allen Singson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Allen Singson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alexander Marv!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Allen Singson!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marv takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Marv tries to move into range but Singson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Marv darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Singson works his way to full guard. Good work.
Singson wants to stand up but Marv is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marv trying to stand up but can't free himself from Singson's guard.
Singson is trying to keep Marv in close.
Marv is fighting to break Singson's control of his arms but Singson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Marv content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Singson is pulling down on Marv's head. It's preventing any offense from Marv, at least for the moment.
Marv missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Marv loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Singson wants to sweep here but Marv controlling him for the moment.

Singson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Marv wants to clinch up but Singson keeps it at a distance.
Singson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Marv swivels and escapes.

Marv shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Marv wants to work for an arm triangle but Singson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Singson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Singson.

Singson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Marv defends it easily.
Marv postures up.
Marv wants to stand and escape but instead Singson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Singson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marv swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Singson looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Marv working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Singson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Singson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Allen Singson will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


A head kick misses from Singson.

Marv forces Singson back against the cage and clinches.
Singson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Marv has him pressed against the cage.

Singson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Singson jumps guard and drags Marv to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Singson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Singson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marv keeps working.
Marv is trying to maintain the position but Singson is very close to passing his half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Marv could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Singson prevents Marv from getting the reversal.

Singson wants to control the pace but Marv is squirming around nicely.
Marv tries to hold on but Singson pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Singson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Marv kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Marv is looking to improve his position but Singson isn't that keen on the idea.
Marv wants to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Singson tries to control but Marv wriggling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Allen Singson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Singson looks to land a body kick but Marv moved away.
Singson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Marv's head.
Singson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Marv is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Singson's half guard.
Singson looks like he's trying to stand up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Marv drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Singson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Singson tries to pull guard but Marv holds him up against the cage and eventually Singson drops back down to his feet.

Singson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Singson works over Marv's head and body with a nice combination.
Singson looks to land a combination but Marv avoids it well.
Marv tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Singson swivels and escapes.
Singson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Marv swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Singson has a takedown stuffed.
Alexander Marv seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Singson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Marv backs up against the cage.
Singson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Marv has time to react.
Singson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Marv sprawls well. Marv wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Singson gets slowly back to his feet.
Alexander Marv has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Allen Singson.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alexander Marv.
I think Singson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
