Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mandy Gonzalez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Johnson! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Johnson. Gonzalez is looking for a sweep. Gonzalez wants to control but Johnson postures up. Johnson lands some shots froms side control. Gonzalez tries to improve position but can't. Johnson tries to advance to mount but can't. Johnson is staying tight to Gonzalez's torso, preventing him from escaping. Gonzalez is looking for a sweep. I wouldn't like to be where Gonzalez is right now. Johnson controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gonzalez keeps working. Johnson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gonzalez some visible discomfort.
Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Gonzalez pushes Johnson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Johnson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Gonzalez prevents Johnson from moving into mount. Johnson throws an elbow but Gonzalez slips to the side and avoids it well. Johnson staying calm. Gonzalez manages to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gonzalez is trying to control but can't.
Gonzalez is trying to stand up here but Johnson is controlling him well. Johnson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Johnson looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Gonzalez is refusing to be controlled, as Johnson sits in half guard. Gonzalez blocking the ground and pound attempt from Johnson. Johnson stands up from half guard. Johnson moves into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson manages to break the clinch.
Johnson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Gonzalez tries to clinch but fails miserably and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into guard. Gonzalez is breathing heavily. Johnson wanted to stand there but Gonzalez had control of the position. Gonzalez kicks Johnson off and gets to his feet. Gonzalez tries to clinch and Johnson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gonzalez is trying to control the position but Johnson postures up. Johnson controlling from the top position. Johnson is posturing up here but Gonzalez has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Johnson tries to roll out but it's too tight and Johnson has to tap! Slick submission there by Gonzalez!
