The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Luciano lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Luciano is looking to clinch but Carbone is avoiding it.
Luciano misses with a takedown attempt - Carbone sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Carbone tries to bum rush Luciano with a series of wild strikes but Luciano uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Carbone feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Carbone passes into half guard. Carbone is looking for a kimura but Luciano is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Carbone to get the leverage. Carbone is looking to take a break and control but Luciano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Carbone is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Luciano is just riding it out for now. Carbone eventually gives up the hold. Luciano is breathing heavily. Carbone trying to mount his opponent but Luciano defends it. Luciano gets back to full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Luciano is on top in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carbone controls Luciano momentarily but Luciano frees himself. Carbone manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Luciano manages to get himself to full guard.
Carbone decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Luciano, up you get! Carbone fails with the takedown. Luciano instigates a clinch. Carbone tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Luciano just stands there and leans against the cage. Luciano breaks from the clinch.
Luciano with a poor takedown so Carbone counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Luciano trying to control the position.
Luciano knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carbone on the ground. Carbone prevents Luciano from getting back to his feet. Luciano will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Luciano trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Luciano throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carbone pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Luciano is keeping the position for now. Carbone is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Luciano fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Carbone sprawls well initially but Luciano persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Carbone trying to control but Luciano postures up.
Carbone gets back to full guard.
Carbone looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Luciano wants to get up but he can't break Carbone's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carbone looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Luciano passes into half guard.
Carbone is looking to improve his position.
Luciano is looking to advance position but Carbone won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carbone pushes Luciano off and gets back to his feet. Luciano looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Carbone looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Luciano has picked Carbone up and slammed him! Carbone can't keep hold of the triangle and Luciano manages to pass to side control! Luciano stands up. Luciano gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Carbone counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Luciano's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucky Luciano. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carbone stops Luciano from standing up. Carbone pushing down on Luciano's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. This has been an exciting period of action! Carbone is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Carbone works his way into side control. Carbone advances nicely into full mount. Carbone is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Luciano is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Luciano flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Carbone anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Luciano and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Carbone slips an arm under Luciano chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Carbone has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Carbone is squeezing on Luciano like an anaconda would it's prey. Luciano fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
