Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Laffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, King Emelianenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Larry Laffer! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laffer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Emelianenko is trying to defend but Laffer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Laffer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Emelianenko keeps working. Laffer is working for a submission of some sort.
Laffer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Emelianenko is just riding it out for now. Laffer eventually gives up the hold. Laffer wants to pass the guard but Emelianenko is defending well. Laffer is working for a kimura but Emelianenko is defending it quite comfortably.

That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Emelianenko is not content to let Laffer control the position. Laffer might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Emelianenko kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Laffer wants to pass to mount but Emelianenko is defending the position. Laffer wants to work for an arm triangle but Emelianenko is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Emelianenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Laffer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Laffer closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Emelianenko did well to prevent Laffer getting side control. Emelianenko is looking to control Laffer's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Emelianenko avoid being mounted? Laffer works his way into side control. Laffer regains full guard. Nicely done. Laffer looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Laffer lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Emelianenko! Emelianenko tries to get back to half guard but can't. Laffer is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Emelianenko is surviving well by controlling Laffer's body position as best he can. Laffer swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Emelianenko is now in Laffer's guard. A big mistake from Laffer there, giving up the dominant position! Laffer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Emelianenko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Laffer tries to land a sweep but no joy. Emelianenko being controlled here momentarily. Emelianenko wants to control from the top but Laffer keeps moving. Laffer scores with a takedown into Emelianenko's guard. Laffer trying to control but Emelianenko is working from the bottom. Laffer sitting in guard, not really doing much. Emelianenko keeping moving, preventing Laffer from controlling successfully. Emelianenko tries to land a sweep but no joy. Emelianenko is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Laffer thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Emelianenko keeping moving, preventing Laffer from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Emelianenko has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Laffer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Laffer wants to land a leg kick but Emelianenko is out of range. A clash of legs there as Emelianenko blocks the low kick. Laffer shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Laffer has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Laffer trying to control but Emelianenko is having none of it. Laffer is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Emelianenko has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Laffer wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Laffer looking to control but Emelianenko is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Emelianenko is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Emelianenko tries to reverse the position but Laffer maintains control. Laffer is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Emelianenko to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Emelianenko shrugs it off. Emelianenko is working to get back to half guard.
Laffer moves to take his opponent's back. Laffer is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Emelianenko taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Laffer.
