Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Remedios Verzosa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rojo Sangria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Remedios Verzosa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Remedios Verzosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rojo Sangria!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sangria ducks under a wild hook from Verzosa.
Sangria is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Verzosa.
Sangria lands a jab to the nose.
Verzosa swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sangria on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Sangria shoots for a takedown but Verzosa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sangria throws a shot from downtown. Verzosa moves away and avoids it.

Verzosa swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Sangria closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Verzosa to the mat! Verzosa manages to get full guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Sangria sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Verzosa is looking to advance position but Sangria won't allow it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Verzosa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Sangria tries to score a power double leg takedown but Verzosa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sangria somewhat.

Remedios Verzosa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sangria swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Verzosa lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sangria catches Verzosa with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Sangria shoots for a double leg takedown but Verzosa sprawls well. He's pushed Sangria's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Remedios Verzosa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rojo Sangria.
Sangria swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Sangria jabbing away but nothing is landing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sangria accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Rojo Sangria dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sangria lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Verzosa circles away quickly and effectively.
Sangria works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Sangria shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Verzosa manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Verzosa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sangria must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sangria is in close to Verzosa's body, working some short punches and elbows.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Verzosa is on top in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Verzosa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sangria can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Sangria is pushing down on Verzosa's leg trying to pass to half guard. Verzosa is fighting to maintain full guard but Sangria has managed to sneak the leg through.
Sangria seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Verzosa is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Sangria jumps into side control!

Sangria is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Verzosa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Rojo Sangria showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sangria looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Verzosa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sangria is working away from the top position though.

I would just about give that final round to Rojo Sangria.
Well Sangria has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
