Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josh Irvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Wheldon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Josh Irvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Wheldon!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wheldon misses with a wild combination.
Irvin on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Irvin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wheldon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Irvin.
Irvin shoots for a takedown but Wheldon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Irvin walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Wheldon looks to land a combination but Irvin avoids it well.
Wheldon throws the left hand but Irvin avoids the punch easily.
Wheldon paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Wheldon rushes Irvin and presses him up against the cage.

Wheldon breaks the clinch.
Wheldon lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Irvin closes the distance and clinches up with Wheldon, looking for a takedown. Irvin pushes Wheldon against the cage but Wheldon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Irvin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Irvin takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Irvin fails to land the takedown.
Wheldon moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


Irvin is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
No luck for Irvin with that takedown attempt.
Irvin slips a jab and a cross from Wheldon.
Wheldon misses with a two punch combination.

Irvin feints and as Wheldon raises his hands in defense, Irvin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Irvin stops Wheldon from standing up.
Wheldon keeping full guard, as Irvin tries to pass.
Wheldon wants to stand up but Irvin is controlling him.

Irvin drops back looking for a leg! Wheldon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wheldon manages to kick Irvin off! Irvin jumps back into Wheldon's guard.
Irvin won't allow Wheldon to get back to his feet.
Irvin trying to control the position from guard on top but Wheldon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Wheldon scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Irvin tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Irvin shoots in for a takedown but Wheldon shows good takedown defense.
Wheldon scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Irvin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Irvin is breathing heavily.
Nice uppercut lands for Wheldon. That snapped Irvin's head back.

Irvin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Wheldon wriggles free and stands up.
Wheldon lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Irvin backs up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wheldon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wheldon wants it to stay on the feet.
Wheldon stalks Irvin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Irvin's face. Irvin staggers backwards, shaken.
Wheldon ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Wheldon scores with a jab. Irvin acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Irvin takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Oh Irvin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wheldon cracks Irvin with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Wheldon paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Wheldon throws out a powerful jab.
Nice straight punches there by Wheldon. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Wheldon.
Irvin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wheldon cracks Irvin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Wheldon connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Wheldon throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Irvin stumbling backwards into the cage! Irvin bounces back off the cage towards Wheldon, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Wheldon lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Wheldon celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kevin Wheldon!
