Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Valverde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Rogers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Valverde! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rogers cracks Valverde with a good jab. Rogers lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Valverde fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Valverde showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rogers.
Rogers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Rogers takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Valverde keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Valverde closes the distance and clinches up with Rogers, looking for a takedown. Valverde pushes Rogers against the cage but Rogers circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Valverde gets a takedown into half guard. Valverde wants to control but Rogers is keeping him busy. Rogers desperately trying to maintain half guard. Valverde seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rogers does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Valverde tries to pass to full mount but Rogers defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rogers is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rogers trying to control from the bottom.
Rogers on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rogers tries to get out of the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rogers throws a right and a left that Valverde avoids nicely. Valverde looks for a takedown but Rogers sprawls well. Steve Rogers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Valverde. Rogers scores with a nice strike. Valverde looks gassed! Valverde shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rogers but Rogers pushes him off and we're back to square one. Rogers bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Valverde's head. Rogers keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rogers works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Rogers lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Valverde sprawling to the canvas. Rogers follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Valverde hang on?
Valverde is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Valverde wants to improve his position but Rogers is controlling well.
Valverde is still in real trouble! Can Rogers finish him? Valverde moves into full guard.
Valverde seems to have recovered his senses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rogers wants to pass the guard but Valverde is keeping the position. Rogers looking to sit in guard and control but Valverde gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Valverde passes Rogers's left leg - he's now in half guard. Valverde looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Valverde passes to side control. Valverde wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rogers keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valverde swings around for an armbar but Rogers sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Valverde's guard. Rogers wants to get up but he can't break Valverde's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Rogers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Valverde is trying to control the position but Rogers postures up. Rogers slips nicely into half guard. Rogers trying to pass the guard but Valverde defending well. Valverde is trying to get back to full guard. Rogers thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Rogers seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Valverde regains full guard. Nicely done. Rogers is stalling in the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rogers tries to free his leg and advance position but Valverde is retaining full guard. Rogers wants to control from the top but Valverde keeps moving. Valverde working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rogers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rogers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rogers slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Valverde is pulling down on Rogers's head. It's preventing any offense from Rogers, at least for the moment. Rogers avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Valverde throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Steve Rogers dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Valverde shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rogers as he jumps to the side. Rogers misses with an uppercut. Valverde saw that one coming. Steve Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rogers tries to bum rush Valverde with a series of wild strikes but Valverde uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Rogers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Valverde fails with a takedown attempt. Rogers clobbers Valverde with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Valverde bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Rogers works over Valverde's head and body with a nice combination. Valverde with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Rogers to score with a decent uppercut. Valverde tries to move into range but Rogers moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Rogers pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Rogers throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Valverde. Rogers lands a body shot.
Valverde shoots in looking for a takedown. Rogers tries to sprawl out of it but Valverde keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rogers connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Valverde's hands. Steve Rogers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Valverde throws a right and a left that both miss. Steve Rogers is winning the standup battle so far. Horrible takedown by Valverde or perhaps it was just good defense by Rogers which made him look bad. Valverde fails with a takedown attempt. Rogers is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Rogers swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rogers lands a nice hook to Valverde's body. Valverde takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Rogers stuffs the takedown attempt from Valverde. Valverde gets slowly back to his feet. Rogers misses with the combination.

and Valverde counters with a shoot takedown. Rogers fights it but they end up in guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Valverde looking to pass the guard. Rogers wants to sweep here but Valverde controlling him for the moment. Valverde trying to control but Rogers is working from the bottom. Valverde preventing the sweep. Rogers looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Valverde puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Rogers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Valverde on the ground. Valverde prevents Rogers from improving his position. Rogers is refusing to be controlled, as Valverde sits in half guard. Rogers tries to kick Valverde off but Valverde keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rogers dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rogers fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Valverde on the side of the head. Rogers throws a hook to the side of Valverde's head but Valverde sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Rogers misses with a two punch combination.

and Valverde counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Valverde. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rogers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Valverde throwing strikes from guard but Rogers blocks nicely. Valverde trying to control but Rogers is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Valverde sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rogers's guard. Valverde wants to take a breather but Rogers is having none of it. Rogers wants to improve his position but Valverde is controlling well.
Valverde stops Rogers from getting back to his feet.
Rogers wants to control but Valverde is keeping busy and won't allow it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Valverde takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Valverde gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rogers. Nice straight punches there by Rogers. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Rogers. Valverde shoots in for a takedown but Rogers shows good takedown defense. Rogers drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Valverde right on the button. Valverde goes down! Rogers follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Rogers gets the win via TKO!
