Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dustin Baasch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baasch has chosen Indestructible as his entrance music. Dustin Baasch has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shane Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dustin Baasch!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Baasch as Carwin shoots in.
Dustin Baasch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baasch doesn't manage to clinch there - Carwin circles away.

Baasch lands a big head kick that sends Carwin tumbling to the mat! Baasch takes a step backwards and waves Carwin back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Shane Carwin has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carwin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carwin circles away from the clinch attempt.

Carwin drives through with a takedown into guard.
Carwin showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Baasch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carwin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Carwin scores with a decent looking elbow strike.


It looks like Dustin Baasch has been cut.

Carwin throws and elbow that misses. Baasch uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Carwin's guard. Nice move by Baasch!

Carwin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Baasch won't allow Carwin to sweep him here.
Baasch throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Carwin throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Carwin has his foot on Baasch's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Baasch works his way back into a safe position though.
Baasch is looking to work some ground and pound but Carwin has wrist control.
Baasch looking to sit in guard and control but Carwin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Carwin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Carwin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Carwin trying to control but Baasch is working from the bottom.
Baasch not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Carwin landing with the ground and pound.
Baasch is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Carwin postures up in Baasch's guard and throws a big left but Baasch blocks it.
Baasch wants to improve his position but instead Carwin has moved into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carwin is nestled in close to Baasch, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Carwin wants to pass the guard but Baasch is defending well.
Baasch avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Carwin.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Carwin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Carwin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Carwin wants to take a breather but Baasch is having none of it.
Baasch tries to get to full guard but Carwin has control of the leg.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Baasch is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Carwin dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Baasch tries to clinch but Carwin moves out of range.
Baasch wants to clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Carwin.

Carwin cracks Baasch with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Baasch is trying to control Carwin's posture but Carwin avoids it.

Baasch is pushing Carwin's head away, looking to escape. Carwin manages to hold on to the position though.
Carwin slows the pace down.
Carwin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Baasch to see if he's OK.
Baasch is not in a great position here, taking some shots.


That has opened up Dustin Baasch's cut even more.
Carwin controlling the position from side mount.
Baasch takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Carwin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Baasch knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Carwin is looking to take a break and control but Baasch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Carwin in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Baasch is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dustin Baasch's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
