Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Henri Thibault (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carver McNulty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Henri Thibault!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carver McNulty!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thibault tries to bum rush McNulty with a series of wild strikes but McNulty uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Thibault defending well as McNulty loads up on a big left hand.
Thibault looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Carver McNulty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thibault takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Thibault finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
McNulty throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
McNulty misses with a hook. Thibault ducked under it nicely.
McNulty misses with a two punch combination.
Thibault throws a front kick aimed at McNulty's knee but McNulty avoids it well.
McNulty looks to land a left hand but Thibault moved out of range nicely.

Thibault closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McNulty to the mat! McNulty manages to get full guard.

McNulty has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Thibault can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Thibault wants to control from the top but McNulty keeps moving.
McNulty doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thibault accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McNulty is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McNulty is trying to control the position but Thibault postures up.
McNulty keeping moving, preventing Thibault from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Thibault pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McNulty is keeping the position for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McNulty throws a jab but it's blocked by Thibault.
Good leg kick by Thibault there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
McNulty connects with a body shot.
McNulty moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
McNulty looks to land a combination but Thibault avoids it well.
McNulty swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McNulty scores with a jab to the jaw.
McNulty looks to score with a jab to the body but Thibault is just out of range.
McNulty staying out of range there.
Carver McNulty is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Thibault swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Thibault keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Thibault takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
McNulty looks gassed!

Thibault changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McNulty looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
McNulty is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Thibault not doing much here.
Thibault seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McNulty for as long as he can get away with.
Nice strikes from Thibault there.

McNulty looking for submissions off his back.
McNulty regains full guard. Nicely done.
Thibault sitting in guard, not really doing much.
McNulty is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Thibault postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
McNulty bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thibault's guard.
Thibault manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
McNulty is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McNulty is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
McNulty bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
McNulty pushes down on Thibault's leg and manages to get into half guard.
McNulty trying to mount his opponent but Thibault defends it.
McNulty has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

McNulty has hold of Thibault's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Thibault manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The referee warns Thibault that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.


Thibault is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McNulty fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Oh Thibault is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Thibault has left one of his arms exposed and McNulty doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Thibault screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Carver McNulty!
