Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edgar Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfredo Dimafelix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz scores with a takedown into Dimafelix's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Dimafelix is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Diaz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dimafelix is keeping the position for now. Diaz is fighting to break Dimafelix's control of his arms but Dimafelix is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Diaz is stalling in the full guard. Dimafelix is adopting a defensive guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dimafelix trying to control the position.
Dimafelix looking for a sweep. Not yet Dimafelix, not yet. Dimafelix not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Diaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Dimafelix is retaining full guard. Diaz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Dimafelix has a closed guard, preventing Diaz from standing up. Diaz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Diaz in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Dimafelix misses with a takedown and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Dimafelix trying to control from the bottom.
Dimafelix might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Diaz kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Diaz tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dimafelix knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dimafelix is concentrating on defense, preventing Diaz from advancing position. Dimafelix is staying active underneath Diaz, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Diaz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dimafelix on the ground. Dimafelix is trying to maintain the position but Diaz is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Diaz trying to advance position but Dimafelix counters by regaining guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Diaz moves in looking to clinch but Dimafelix pushes him off. Dimafelix scores with a shot to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dimafelix tries for a takedown but Diaz circles away easily and Diaz counters with a takedown into side control. Diaz is breathing heavily. Diaz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Diaz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Dimafelix manages to work his way to half guard, despite Diaz's best efforts. Diaz is figuring out what he wants to do next. Diaz is just content to waste time from the top position. Dimafelix takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dimafelix shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Diaz counters with a lovely shot to the body. Diaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dimafelix sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Diaz somewhat. Dimafelix misses the jab. Diaz thuds a left hand into Dimafelix's body. Dimafelix fails with the takedown and Diaz counters with a shoot takedown. Dimafelix fights it but they end up in guard. Diaz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Diaz stands up and waves to Dimafelix to follow him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Diaz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Dimafelix is trying to maintain the position but Diaz is very close to passing his half guard. Dimafelix tries to kick Diaz off but Diaz keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Diaz not landing any meaningful shots this time. Diaz sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Dimafelix defending well though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Diaz content to control rather than advance. Diaz is pressing down on Dimafelix's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dimafelix is holding on for now.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Excellent takedown into side control there by Diaz. Diaz staying calm.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dimafelix parries the strikes from Diaz easily there. Diaz is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dimafelix to escape.
You can see the frustration on Dimafelix's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The referee asks Diaz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Diaz prefers to stall for the moment though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dimafelix pushes Diaz away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Diaz gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Diaz goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dimafelix has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Diaz but great work by Dimafelix. Dimafelix is trying to get an arm triangle but Diaz is defending well. Dimafelix wants to control for a moment but Diaz uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Dimafelix wants to get back to his feet.
Diaz holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diaz gets a clinch. Diaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Diaz scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Diaz throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Dimafelix is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Dimafelix is not content to let Diaz control the position. The referee asks Diaz politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Diaz prefers to stall for the moment though. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz tries for a kimura but Dimafelix is defending well. Diaz trying to control the position but Dimafelix is working away. Diaz tries to move to full mount but Dimafelix actually manages to regain half guard. Dimafelix is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Dimafelix lands a slapping body shot.
Dimafelix doesn't succeed with the takedown and Diaz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Dimafelix goes for a takedown attempt but Diaz pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dimafelix fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Diaz avoids it really well and circles away. Edgar Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alfredo Dimafelix. Diaz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dimafelix swats him away and circles back towards the center. Dimafelix drives through and clinches with Diaz against the cage.

Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dimafelix swivels though and keeps the full guard. Diaz trying to control but Dimafelix is working from the bottom. Diaz tries to stand but Dimafelix is controlling from the bottom.

Edgar Diaz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dimafelix will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
And that's the end of the fight! Edgar Diaz showed his dominance in that final round. Well Diaz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
