Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Koni Mahu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

and Mahu counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mahu bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Johnson pushes Mahu away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mahu gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mahu is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mahu goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Johnson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mahu but great work by Johnson.

Johnson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mahu sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Johnson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's time! Mahu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mahu lands a nice short elbow.
Mahu takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Mahu seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Mark Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Johnson leaves Mahu with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mahu shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mahu was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mahu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
