PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barry Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jace Beleren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beleren has chosen Young Jeezy 3 A M as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Barry Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jace Beleren!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright fails to land the takedown.

and Wright counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Beleren escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wright gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Beleren is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Beleren wants to sweep here but Wright controlling him for the moment.

Wright decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Beleren, up you get!
Wright shoots in and drives through. Beleren sprawls well.

and Beleren counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Beleren is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wright is just riding it out for now. Beleren eventually gives up the hold.

Wright knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Beleren on the ground.

Wright is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Beleren tries to close the distance and clinch but Wright swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Beleren tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wright sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Beleren somewhat.
Jace Beleren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Wright counters with a two punch combo.

Beleren gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Wright moves into the clinch.
Barry Wright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jace Beleren.

Wright pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Wright counters with a series of strikes. Beleren will be more careful next time no doubt.
Barry Wright is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wright finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Wright fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wright stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Wright wants it to stay on the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wright is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Beleren is controlling him.

Beleren drops back looking for a leg! Wright is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wright manages to kick Beleren off! Beleren jumps back into Wright's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Beleren won't allow Wright to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Beleren fails with the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barry Wright dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Wright has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Beleren can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Beleren doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Wright counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Beleren's guard now.
Wright has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Wright has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Beleren to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Wright is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Beleren pulls down on the head and he's put Wright to sleep! This one is all over!
