Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Norman Ewert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes into the arena with Hydraulix 13.5 - D.A.V.E. the Drummer & Alex Calver blaring out of the sound system. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Norman Ewert! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ewert swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Gracie takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Ewert throws a hook but Gracie blocks it. Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gracie accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Ewert is retaining full guard. Ewert wants to stand and escape but Gracie is having none of it. Gracie looking to pass the guard. Gracie looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Ewert tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ewert seems keen to control Gracie's posture. Ewert wants to stand and escape but Gracie is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie wants to pass the guard but Ewert is keeping the position. Gracie trying to control but Ewert is working from the bottom. Gracie being controlled here momentarily. Ewert tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ewert is pulling down on Gracie's head to control his posture. Gracie trying to control but Ewert is working from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Gracie steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ewert.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gracie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Ewert, as that shot connected.
Ewert cracks Gracie with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. No joy there for Ewert, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Norman Ewert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ewert swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ewert throws a big shot that misses. A big right from Ewert misses. Ewert thows a left - swing and a miss! A punch combination from Ewert misses. A big left from Ewert misses. Ewert throws a right and a left that Gracie avoids nicely. Gracie misses the shot to the body. Gracie walks into a straight right hand from Ewert. Ewert misses with a jab to the body
and Gracie counters with a lovely shot to the body. Ewert throws an overhand right that lands on Gracie's shoulder, as Gracie tries to avoid the shot. Ewert throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gracie moves out of range as Ewert strikes. A slow jab from Ewert misses its intended target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Gracie looks to land a combination. Ewert sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Gracie slips under a jab from Ewert. Gracie misses with a two punch combination.
Gracie thows a body shot but no joy. Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Gracie tries to pass to full mount but Ewert defends it. Ewert wants to get back to his feet. Gracie thows a huge punch but Ewert dodges it nicely.
Ewert is looking to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie is trying to work for a kimura but Ewert is defending well.

Ewert tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Gracie trying to control but he's not successful this time. Ewert tries to reverse the position but Gracie maintains control. Gracie wants to control the pace but Ewert is squirming around nicely. Ewert is looking to get to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Aaron Gracie will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ewert is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Ewert circles away and we're back to standing. Ewert bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Ewert circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ewert throws a combination that misses and Gracie counters with a nice body shot. Ewert throws the left hand but Gracie avoids the punch easily. Ewert throws a right and a left that Gracie avoids nicely. The fighters circling - Ewert throws out the jab but it was never going to land. A telegraphed right hand from Ewert misses the target. Ewert thows a left - swing and a miss! Ewert loads up on a big right hand but Gracie slips the punch. Gracie is looking to wear down Ewert with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Ewert connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Ewert misses with a double jab
and Gracie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ewert throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Gracie tries to clinch up but Ewert circles away and keeps his distance. Ewert misses with a wild body shot. Ewert getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Ewert looks to land a left hand but Gracie moved out of range nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Gracie. Gracie trying to control the action but Ewert is working from the bottom. Ewert is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Gracie working away. Gracie wants to control for a moment but Ewert uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ewert doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie. Gracie wants to take a breather but Ewert is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie is pressing down on Ewert's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ewert is holding on for now. Ewert controlling the position for now.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Gracie throws a right hand that Ewert ducks under and follows up with a left that Ewert also avoids with ease. Gracie on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. A swing and a miss from Gracie. A big left from Ewert misses. Ewert lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Norman Ewert is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Gracie scores with a hook. Ewert leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Gracie lands with a hook. Ewert tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ewert dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Ewert misses with an uppercut. Gracie saw that one coming. Ewert misses with an uppercut. Gracie saw that one coming. Ewert digs a good hook to Gracie's body.

and Gracie makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Ewert might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Ewert misses with a looping left. A big right from Ewert misses. Gracie has closed the distance and engaged Ewert in a clinch.

Gracie has picked Ewert up - he's going for a ride! Gracie dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Ewert is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Gracie missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Ewert is trying to stand.
Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Ewert defends the submission attempt. Gracie trying to pass the guard but Ewert defending well. Gracie is trying to control. Ewert wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Ewert trying to control but Gracie postures up.

Gracie scores with a nice strike. Good exchange - Gracie coming out on top. Norman Ewert seems to be getting the better of the standup. Ewert throws a lazy right hand but Gracie sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gracie there as he acknowledges the shot. Gracie displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ewert throws out the jab. Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ewert. Ewert stuffs the takedown. Gracie throws a right hand that Ewert ducks under and follows up with a left that Ewert also avoids with ease. A cross from Ewert lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ewert manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Gracie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Ewert is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gracie wants to pass the guard but Ewert is keeping the position. Gracie trying to control but Ewert is working from the bottom. Gracie stopping the sweep attempt from Ewert. Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Ewert is retaining full guard. Ewert wants to stand but Gracie is controlling the position. Gracie advances to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ewert on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Ewert is trying to maintain the position but Gracie is very close to passing his half guard. Gracie uses his free foot to push down on Ewert's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ewert. Ewert wants to control but Gracie is having none of it. Gracie tries to control but Ewert wriggling away. Ewert manages to control the position for a moment. Ewert wants to try and get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Gracie wants to control the pace but Ewert is squirming around nicely. A nice elbow there by Gracie. Gracie throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Ewert working to try and regain half guard.
Gracie wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Gracie is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ewert to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ewert shrugs it off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Gracie is trying to take his opponent's back.
Gracie can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ewert is looking to escape. Ewert wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away. Gracie fails to move to back control. Ewert tries to hold on but Gracie pushes him away. Ewert keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gracie is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Ewert can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gracie looking to control but Ewert is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that's the end of the fight! Aaron Gracie showed his dominance in that final round. I think Gracie has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
