The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ward looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ward wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Ward is in trouble now - Gracie has advanced to mount!
Gracie has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ward's face.

It looks like Palmer Ward has been cut.
Ward really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gracie looking for a guillotine from mount but Ward is having none of it.
Ward is trying to escape the mount but Gracie keeps good control and instead manages to take Ward's back.
Ward is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Gracie off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Gracie tries to keep control of the position but Ward is staying busy.
