The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Jacare fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jacare throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Carter moves out of range of the body kick from Jacare.
Jacare takes a swing at Carter's ribcage but misses.
Jacare thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jacare tries to bum rush Carter with a series of wild strikes but Carter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Carter circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jacare is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jacare throws a right hand that Carter ducks under and follows up with a left that Carter also avoids with ease.

Jacare throws a hook but Carter avoids it easily.
Jacare shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Carter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jacare as he avoids it easily.
No joy there for Jacare, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carter shoots in and drives through. Jacare sprawls well.
Demaj Jacare has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raekwon Carter.
Jacare lands with a kick to the temple. Carter shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Jacare throws a lazy right hand but Carter sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Jacare throws a right hand that Carter ducks under and follows up with a left that Carter also avoids with ease.

Carter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Carter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Carter wants to take Jacare's back here but Jacare is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Carter has hold of Jacare's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jacare manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Carter wants to control the pace but Jacare is squirming around nicely.

Carter is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jacare is surviving well by controlling Carter's body position as best he can.
Carter scoring with strikes but Jacare is staying in there.
Carter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jacare is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Carter gets his way!
