The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Garner tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bane wants to control but Garner is having none of it.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Garner.
Dion Bane has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Garner.
Garner shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bane as he jumps to the side.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

so Bane counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Garner can do anything to dispel that myth.

No joy there for Bane, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Bane turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bane manages to end up in side control.
Garner tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Bane misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Garner wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Garner scores with a hook to the body. Bane takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Bane is looking to clinch but Garner is avoiding it.
Garner is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Bane rather than just go for the knockout.
