Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcus Steven Reedus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Manunu Igi!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Igi leaves Reedus with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Reedus scores with a takedown into Igi's guard.
Reedus wants to pass the guard but Igi is keeping the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Igi can do anything to dispel that myth.
Igi has control of Reedus's left arm, preventing Reedus from doing any damage.
Reedus passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Igi prevents Reedus from improving position.

Reedus tries to advance to mount but Igi denies him.

Reedus is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Igi has escaped the position, nice work there.
Igi is trying to improve his position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Igi prevents Reedus from moving into mount.

Reedus tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Reedus is breathing heavily.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Igi lands a jab to Reedus's midsection.
Reedus keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Igi looks for a takedown but Reedus sprawls well.
Igi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Igi works over Reedus's head and body with a nice combination.

and Igi counters with a takedown into side control.
Igi tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Reedus seems a little lost for a moment, as Igi dominates the positioning.
Igi tries to move to mount but Reedus blocks the move with his legs.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Igi taking a breather here.
Reedus wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Manunu Igi dominated that round.
That's time! Reedus's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Reedus shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Igi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Reedus misses with a takedown attempt
and Igi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Reedus circles away from the clinch attempt.

and Igi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Reedus's guard now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Steven Reedus. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Igi wants to pass the guard but Reedus is keeping the position.
Igi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Igi postures up in Reedus's guard and throws a big left but Reedus blocks it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Igi in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Igi wants to get up but he can't break Reedus's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Igi trying to control but Reedus is working from the bottom.
Igi stops Reedus from standing up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Reedus shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Igi counters with a single leg into guard. Reedus didn't expect that.
Igi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Reedus's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Igi throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Reedus keeping moving, preventing Igi from controlling successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Igi won't allow Reedus to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Manunu Igi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Igi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Igi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Igi wants to control from the top but Reedus keeps moving.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Igi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Reedus is proving hard to escape from.

Reedus pushes Igi off and gets back to his feet.

Igi has a takedown stuffed.
Reedus misses with a takedown

and Igi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Reedus's guard now.
Igi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reedus swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Igi controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reedus wants to stand and escape but Igi is having none of it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Manunu Igi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Igi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
