PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Liam Minard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and CJ Dewing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Minard's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Walk. Dewing is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Let Your Love Flow - Bellamy Brothers. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Liam Minard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, CJ Dewing!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Minard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Nice strikes from Minard there.
Dewing tries to get to full guard but Minard has control of the leg.
Dewing is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Minard landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Dewing avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Minard.
Dewing is looking to escape.
Minard prevents Dewing from improving his position.
Minard seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dewing does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dewing misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Dewing has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dewing makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dewing.
Dewing avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dewing leaves Minard with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Dewing tries to clinch up but Minard circles away and keeps his distance.

Dewing ducks right into an uppercut from Minard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dewing is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Minard swings for the body but Dewing moves out of range.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Minard.
Minard blocks a jab.
Dewing throws a hook but Minard blocks it.
Minard connects with a right hand. Dewing shakes it off.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Minard avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dewing changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Minard tries to avoid it but Dewing manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Minard to the ground. Minard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Minard connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Dewing momentarily.
Minard swinging wildly here.
Minard misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dewing.

Minard pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Minard thows a body shot but no joy.
Minard lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Dewing at a distance.
Dewing fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dewing tries to clinch there but Minard circles away.
Dewing avoids the body shot from Minard.
Dewing uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Minard.
Minard lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd cheers as Minard lands an impressive looking overhand right. Dewing doesn't seem phased though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Liam Minard dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Minard scores with a hook to the body. Dewing takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Minard avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Dewing moves out of range of the strikes.
The fighters circling - Minard throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Dewing tries to close the distance and clinch but Minard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dewing uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Minard.
Dewing wants to clinch.
Minard scores with a one two! Dewing had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


Dewing is rocked!

Dewing moves out of range of the strikes.
Dewing is still on wobbly legs! Can Minard finish him?
Minard swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Minard misses with a hook.

Minard gets a big slam - oh, Dewing is out! Dewing is out! That's a nasty KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Liam Minard!
