Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob McGrady! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyo Mitsuharu! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Steve Montenegro and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mitsuharu tries for a takedown but McGrady sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. McGrady looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. McGrady throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Mitsuharu looking for submissions from an awkward position here. McGrady trying to pass the guard but Mitsuharu defending well. McGrady winds up and cracks Mitsuharu with a swinging punch to the side of the head. McGrady throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. McGrady working the head and body with strikes. Mitsuharu tries to roll over but McGrady keeps him under control. Mitsuharu avoiding damage under a succession of punches from McGrady. Mitsuharu moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. McGrady stopping the sweep attempt from Mitsuharu. McGrady trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGrady got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mitsuharu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McGrady has managed to get both his arms back between Mitsuharu's legs - danger averted. McGrady tries to free his leg and advance position but Mitsuharu is retaining full guard. McGrady preventing the sweep. McGrady postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. McGrady wants to pass the guard but Mitsuharu is keeping the position. Mitsuharu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGrady doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McGrady manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. McGrady is working Mitsuharu over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Mitsuharu avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. McGrady working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. McGrady knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mitsuharu on the ground. McGrady postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Mitsuharu looking for submissions from the bottom but instead McGrady passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. McGrady throwing shots but Mitsuharu is blocking nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mitsuharu trying to control but McGrady postures up.

McGrady is trying to control the action in half guard but Mitsuharu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mitsuharu shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Mitsuharu prevents McGrady from improving his position. McGrady moves into full guard.
McGrady is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from McGrady. McGrady thows a huge punch but Mitsuharu dodges it nicely.
Mitsuharu is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McGrady pulls his head out easily. McGrady working Mitsuharu over with strikes. McGrady looks to score some points with some ground and pound. McGrady missing with the ground and pound from half guard. McGrady takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. McGrady throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. McGrady is trying to control the action in half guard but Mitsuharu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. McGrady prevents Mitsuharu from improving his position. Mitsuharu won't allow McGrady to pass to mount. McGrady not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McGrady lands a nice short elbow. McGrady scoring with strikes to the body and head. McGrady looks to score some points with some ground and pound. McGrady thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Mitsuharu is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McGrady's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McGrady's back! McGrady manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mitsuharu's guard. Nice work there by McGrady.

McGrady won't allow Mitsuharu to sweep him here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mitsuharu pulls McGrady in close to his closed guard and prevents McGrady from doing any damage or advancing position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mitsuharu is on top in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mitsuharu wants to clinch. Mitsuharu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mitsuharu keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mitsuharu fails with the takedown and McGrady counters with a lovely straight right hand! Mitsuharu moves out of range as McGrady strikes. McGrady throws a lazy right hand but Mitsuharu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. McGrady looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mitsuharu tries for a takedown but McGrady circles away easily and McGrady cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Bob McGrady has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyo Mitsuharu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McGrady misses with the combination.

Bob McGrady overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mitsuharu is looking to take a break and control but McGrady is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McGrady is positioning himself to get back to half guard. McGrady manages to get back to half guard. Mitsuharu is working for a kimura but McGrady is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Mitsuharu postures up.

Bob McGrady dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
McGrady throws a hook to the side of Mitsuharu's head but Mitsuharu sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. McGrady looks to land a left hand but Mitsuharu moved out of range nicely. McGrady throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McGrady displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mitsuharu. Mitsuharu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. McGrady has his hands on Mitsuharu's head, controlling the position. Mitsuharu wants to control from the top but McGrady keeps moving. McGrady manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mitsuharu manages to get himself to full guard.

Mitsuharu is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. McGrady throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mitsuharu works some decent striking defense from the bottom. McGrady working some strikes from top position. Mitsuharu not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McGrady works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Mitsuharu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and McGrady counters with a series of strikes. Mitsuharu will be more careful next time no doubt. McGrady comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. McGrady throws a combination. Mitsuharu tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Mitsuharu walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. McGrady feints and as Mitsuharu raises his hands in defense, McGrady changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. McGrady trying to control but Mitsuharu is working from the bottom. McGrady stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mitsuharu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McGrady is in close to Mitsuharu's body, working some short punches and elbows. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGrady accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Mitsuharu not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

And that's the end of the fight! Bob McGrady showed his dominance in that final round. Well McGrady has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
