Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Jakort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Shewmaker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ralph Jakort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank Shewmaker!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shewmaker misses with a head kick.

Jakort shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shewmaker manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Jakort has gone for a leg lock! Shewmaker slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jakort's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jakort escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shewmaker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Shewmaker gets to his feet - Jakort follows without any prompting.

Jakort gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Shewmaker to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Jakort is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Jakort is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jakort is breathing heavily.
Shewmaker sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jakort's guard.

Shewmaker seems to be looking for submissions.

Shewmaker wants to work for an arm triangle but Jakort is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jakort slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Shewmaker wants to pass the guard but Jakort is keeping the position.

Jakort escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Shewmaker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Shewmaker thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Shewmaker wants to stand but Jakort has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Shewmaker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jakort is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shewmaker is aware though and is defending well.

Shewmaker drops back looking for a leg! Jakort is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jakort manages to kick Shewmaker off! Shewmaker jumps back into Jakort's guard.

Jakort has his foot on Shewmaker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shewmaker works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shewmaker drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shewmaker jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Jakort is working an open guard so Shewmaker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Jakort is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Jakort is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shewmaker is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shewmaker has escaped and now he's on top!

Shewmaker stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Jakort tries to close the distance and clinch but Shewmaker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Shewmaker closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Shewmaker is trying to work for a kimura but Jakort is defending well.

Shewmaker is looking for a kimura here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shewmaker stops Jakort from getting back to his feet.

Shewmaker is looking for a kimura but Jakort is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shewmaker to get the leverage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Shewmaker dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jakort shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Frank Shewmaker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Shewmaker is defending against the submission attempts here by Jakort.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Shewmaker ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Shewmaker no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Shewmaker can't keep his opponent in guard - Jakort advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Jakort looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jakort is working for a kimura here but Shewmaker manages to reverse the position and he's now in Jakort's guard.

Shewmaker drops back looking for a leg! Jakort is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jakort manages to kick Shewmaker off! Shewmaker jumps back into Jakort's guard.

Shewmaker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jakort has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shewmaker has managed to get both his arms back between Jakort's legs - danger averted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jakort is looking for a triangle but Shewmaker pushes his legs off easily.

Shewmaker stands up from guard. Let's bang!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Frank Shewmaker will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Shewmaker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jakort is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Shewmaker pulls his head out easily.

Shewmaker has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Jakort defend it? Shewmaker steps over the head and cranks it - Jakort is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Shewmaker!
