Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pimpeek Zurawski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stevo Karapandja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stevo Karapandja!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karapandja is looking to clinch.
Zurawski fails with a takedown attempt.

Karapandja clinches with his opponent.
Karapandja wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Zurawski tries to stall but Karapandja uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Zurawski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Zurawski turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Zurawski manages to end up in side control.
Karapandja wants to control but Zurawski postures up.
Karapandja is trying to get back to half guard.
Zurawski trying to control the action but Karapandja is working from the bottom.
Karapandja tries to bench press Zurawski off him but Zurawski keeps the position.

Karapandja is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Karapandja moves into full guard.
Karapandja is pulling down on Zurawski's head to control his posture.
Karapandja looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Zurawski wants to get up but he can't break Karapandja's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Zurawski tries to stand but Karapandja is controlling from the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Karapandja throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Zurawski won't allow Karapandja to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Karapandja fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zurawski sprawls well initially but Karapandja persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Zurawski is looking to escape.
Zurawski keeping hold of Karapandja's head, controlling as best he can.
Zurawski trying to hold on to Karapandja's head to control him but Karapandja postures up.
Zurawski is breathing heavily.
Zurawski tries to kick Karapandja off but Karapandja keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Karapandja content to control rather than advance.
Zurawski is looking for a sweep. Karapandja is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Karapandja keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Zurawski is trying to stand.
Zurawski moves into full guard.
Karapandja is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Karapandja's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Zurawski looking for a sweep. Not yet Zurawski, not yet.
Karapandja seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Zurawski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Stevo Karapandja dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Karapandja shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Karapandja was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Zurawski gets back to half guard.
Zurawski is looking to control Karapandja's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Zurawski avoid being mounted?

Karapandja gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Karapandja has his takedown stuffed
and Zurawski counters with an inside leg kick.

Zurawski bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Karapandja is not content to let Zurawski control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Karapandja tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Zurawski trying to control the position but Karapandja is working away.

Zurawski decides to stand back up. Zurawski steps back and let's Karapandja get back to his feet.
Zurawski misses with an uppercut. Karapandja saw that one coming.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Karapandja content just to control the position here.
Zurawski is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Zurawski slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Zurawski looking for submissions off his back.

Karapandja decides to return to a standing position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zurawski fails with the takedown

and Karapandja counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Karapandja with a flurry of punches that miss.
Zurawski wants to sweep but no luck.
Karapandja must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Zurawski has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Karapandja off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Karapandja throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Zurawski counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Zurawski.
Zurawski jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Karapandja walks away with a smile on his face. Zurawski gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Zurawski is looking to clinch but Karapandja is avoiding it.

Karapandja darts in and clinches Zurawski up against the cage.
Karapandja can't break the clinch.

Karapandja manages to break the clinch.
Zurawski plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Karapandja doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Zurawski counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Zurawski stands up from Karapandja's guard - Zurawski perhaps looking for a knockout.
Karapandja tries to clinch

and Zurawski counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Karapandja's guard now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Karapandja isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Zurawski stacks Karapandja on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Zurawski!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Karapandja feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Karapandja is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Zurawski is working for a guillotine from mount but Karapandja frees his head quite easily.
Karapandja is mounted and he's throwing punches. Is that wise?
Karapandja tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Karapandja wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Zurawski can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Karapandja is looking to escape.
Zurawski prevents Karapandja from getting the reversal.
Karapandja wants to control but Zurawski is having none of it.
Zurawski has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Karapandja's face.
Karapandja is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Zurawski pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Zurawski breaks from Karapandja's wrist control and lands an elbow.
You get the feeling that Karapandja really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Karapandja wants to hold on but Zurawski pushes him away.
Karapandja flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Zurawski tries to control but Karapandja wriggling away.
Karapandja tries to improve his position but instead Zurawski has taken his back!
Karapandja wants to control his opponent's hands but Zurawski gets his hands free.
Karapandja breaks Zurawski's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Karapandja wants to control from the top but Zurawski keeps moving.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Zurawski tries to clinch up.

Zurawski shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Karapandja looks like he's trying to stand up.
It looks like Zurawski is going to stand back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Karapandja blocking the ground and pound attempt from Zurawski.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pimpeek Zurawski.
I think Zurawski has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
