PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between El Senor Sox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tap Out (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, El Senor Sox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tap Out!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sox gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A short right from Sox.
Out wants a takedown but no success here.
Sox stops a takedown attempt from Out.
Out is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sox pulls him back up using the underhooks.
El Senor Sox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tap Out.

Out escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sox tries to clinch up.
Sox throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Out.
Out fails with a takedown attempt.
Out shoots for a double leg takedown but Sox sprawls well. He's pushed Out's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Out tries to clinch there but Sox circles away.

Sox closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Out did well to prevent Sox getting side control.
Out pushes Sox off looking to stand but Sox dives back in and keeps control.
Sox missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Sox is nestled in close to Out, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Out kicks Sox off and gets back to his feet.

Sox moves into the clinch successfully.

Sox escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Out is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sox gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Out is trying to drag Sox to the mat but Sox just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Out is working for takedown but Sox is calmly controlling the position for now.
Out looks gassed!
Out goes for a takedown in the clinch but Sox prevents it.
Out can't get the takedown.

Sox pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
El Senor Sox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sox connects with a crisp jab.
Sox closes the distance but Out moves to the side

and Out counters by moving into the clinch.

Sox is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Out can't fight it off and eventually Sox manages to take the fight to the floor. Out looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sox trying to control but Out is working from the bottom.
Sox throws a big right hand that misses.
Sox looking to sit in guard and control but Out gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Out throwing strikes but missing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Out wants to get up but he can't break Sox's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Out wants to pass the guard but Sox is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Sox scores a takedown into full mount!
Sox throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Out holds on for dear life.
Sox lands a big elbow.
Sox landing strikes from the mount and Out is in trouble!
Sox scoring with strikes but Out is staying in there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sox thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Sox avoids the attempt from Out to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

El Senor Sox dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Sox tries to clinch but Out moves away

and Out counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sox!

Out is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sox to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sox shrugs it off.

Out has hold of Sox's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sox manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Sox is working to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sox sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Sox is trying to stand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Out throwing shots but Sox is blocking nicely.
Out seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sox does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Sox is looking to escape.
Out is thwarting Sox's attempts to control the position.
Out wants to stand up but Sox has a hold of him and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sox trying to control but Out postures up.

Out has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Sox defend it? Out steps over the head and cranks it - Sox is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tap Out!
