Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Riley Kerestes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gus Pappas! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pappas tries to keep at a distance but Kerestes has taken the fight into the clinch. Pappas wants a takedown but no success here.
Pappas lands with a right to the head. Kerestes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kerestes scores with a decent looking hook. Pappas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Kerestes makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Kerestes forces Pappas back against the cage and clinches. Kerestes breaks the clinch.

and Kerestes counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kerestes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pappas's waist but Pappas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kerestes off to one side. Pappas misses with a double jab
and Kerestes counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Pappas connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kerestes's hands. Pappas swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Kerestes wants to control for a moment but Pappas uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pappas is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

and Kerestes counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Some wild striking there from Kerestes.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. An inside leg kick lands from Kerestes. Pappas scoring with strikes to the body and head. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pappas connects with a nice short shot to Kerestes's temple. Pappas looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Kerestes is trying to stand.

Pappas perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Kerestes is trying to stand up here but Pappas is controlling him well. Kerestes is trying to get back to full guard. Kerestes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pappas's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pappas's back! Pappas is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Kerestes doesn't have the hooks in and Pappas manages to turn into his guard.
