Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Josh Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirk Gently (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dirk Gently is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josh Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dirk Gently! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gently wants to clinch up but Davis keeps it at a distance. Gently is looking to clinch but Davis is avoiding it.
Davis shoots in and bounces Gently off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Gently is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Davis preventing the sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gently is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Davis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gently is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis wants to control from the top but Gently keeps moving. Gently wants to sweep but no luck.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Gently will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Davis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gently was covering up waiting for the punch and Davis finishes the takedown easily into guard. Gently keeping moving, preventing Davis from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Gently is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Davis postures up.
Davis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Davis trying to control but Gently is working from the bottom. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Davis is looking to stand up but Gently won't let him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gently is looking for a triangle but Davis pushes his legs off easily.
Davis trying to control but Gently is working from the bottom. Gently has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though. Davis looking to sit in guard and control but Gently gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gently stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gently trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom. Gently is standing up over Davis. Davis looks to escape but Gently dives into side control.
Gently trying to control the position but Davis is working away. Gently is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Davis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Gently looks gassed! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Gently is chipping away with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Josh Davis will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Gently misses with a takedown attempt letting Davis counter with a right hand. Davis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Gently wants to get back to his feet.
Gently gets back to full guard.
Davis trying to control but Gently is working from the bottom. Gently is breathing heavily. Gently is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Davis is aware though and is defending well. Gently looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis throws a strike but Gently rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Davis working a defensive guard here.
Davis striking off his back but it's not causing Gently any problems. Gently postures up.
Gently stopping the sweep attempt from Davis. Gently wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gently misses with a takedown and Davis counters with a good low kick that Gently was not able to check. Gently gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Davis trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Davis drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gently dives on top into guard. Gently trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom. Gently drops back, looking for a kneebar! Davis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Davis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Davis!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gently tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Davis presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Davis is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gently to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gently shrugs it off. Davis is stalling here but it's allowed Gently to get half guard.
Davis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gently keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Gently regains full guard. Nicely done. Davis trying to move into half guard but instead Gently has managed to sweep! Gently stands and throws Davis's legs to the side, diving into side control. Davis is not content to let Gently control the position. Josh Davis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gently tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gently has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Dirk Gently will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Gently has taken the fight to the clinch.
Davis wants a takedown.
Davis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Gently rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Davis moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Davis is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Gently slips a jab from Davis. Gently misses with a takedown attempt and Davis counters with a nice double leg into side control. Gently won't be happy with that. Davis tries to score with some ground and pound. Gently controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Gently wants to get back to his feet but Davis drags him back down. Gently is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gently is trying to escape the position but Davis is controlling the position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Gently parries the strikes from Davis easily there. Davis is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Gently to escape.
Gently gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Davis working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Gently slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.
Davis trying to control from half guard but Gently is working away. Davis looks to land a strike but Gently avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Davis works a leg free and moves into half guard. Gently looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Gently is looking to control Davis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gently avoid being mounted? Gently tries to roll over but Davis keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis is figuring out what he wants to do next. Gently is not content to let Davis control the position. Davis tries to pass the half guard into mount. Gently knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Gently is looking for a sweep. Davis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Gently looking for submissions off his back.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Davis bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Davis decides to stand back up. Davis steps back and let's Gently get back to his feet. Gently closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Gently fails to pull guard.
Davis has Gently pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Davis pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gently tumbling to the mat - Davis dives into Gently's guard. Davis wants to control from the top but Gently keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight! Josh Davis showed his dominance in that final round. I think Davis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
