Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fabricio Werdum ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Preved Medvedov! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Werdum fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Medvedov sprawls well initially but Werdum persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Werdum sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Medvedov defending well though. Medvedov tries to roll over but Werdum keeps him under control. Werdum wants to free his trapped foot but Medvedov is holding on for dear life with his legs. Werdum missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Medvedov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Werdum tries to pass to full mount but Medvedov defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Werdum wants to lay and pray for a moment but Medvedov keeps working. Medvedov makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Medvedov fails in his attempt to clinch. Werdum throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Medvedov's waist but Medvedov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Werdum off to one side. Medvedov doesn't manage to clinch there - Werdum circles away.
Werdum shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Medvedov is trying to defend but Werdum finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Werdum seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Medvedov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Werdum is thwarting Medvedov's attempts to control the position. Werdum is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Medvedov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Werdum .
That's three minutes gone in the round. Werdum is looking to take a break and control but Medvedov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Werdum sitting and controlling from the half guard. Medvedov trying to control from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Werdum wants to pass the guard but Medvedov is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fabricio Werdum dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Werdum misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Werdum circles away from the clinch attempt.
Preved Medvedov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Medvedov tries to clinch up. Fabricio Werdum is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Medvedov is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Werdum tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Medvedov swivels and escapes. Medvedov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Werdum counters with a low kick, right behind Medvedov 's knee. Werdum shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Werdum was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Werdum content just to control the position here. Medvedov is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Medvedov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Werdum sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Werdum fails to take his opponent's back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Werdum looking to control and managing it successfully.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Fabricio Werdum just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Werdum closes the distance and clinches. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Werdum wants to break the clinch but can't.
Werdum has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Medvedov avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fabricio Werdum dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Werdum feints and as Medvedov raises his hands in defense, Werdum changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Medvedov wants to get back to his feet but Werdum is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Medvedov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Werdum controls the pace. Werdum pushes down on Medvedov's leg and manages to get into half guard. Medvedov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Werdum slows the pace down in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Medvedov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Werdum wants to control but Medvedov is keeping him busy. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Werdum in particular looking to stall. Werdum stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Medvedov to get to his feet. Medvedov walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Excellent takedown into side control there by Werdum .
That's three minutes gone in the round. Werdum has knee on belly and moves into mount. Medvedov is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Werdum has taken his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Werdum is riding his opponent, not letting Medvedov buck him off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Medvedov tries to escape but Werdum has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Medvedov is trying to defend against the choke here but Werdum has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Werdum Tightens the hold and Medvedov taps out furiously! Werdum displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Fabricio Werdum !
