Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyson Drew! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dirk Jama! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drew keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jama lunges at Drew with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Drew's hand. Nice defenses there by Drew. Jama thuds his right hand into Drew's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Drew gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jama to score an easy takedown into full guard. Drew wants to sweep here but Jama controlling him for the moment. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jama accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Jama throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Drew works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Jama landing some decent shots from guard. Jama thows a big elbow that misses. Jama working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Drew's head. Jama looking to sit in guard and control but Drew gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Drew trying to control the position from guard on top but Jama is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drew throwing strikes but missing. Jama is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jama avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Drew wants to pass the guard but Jama is keeping the position. Jama controlling Drew's posture. Jama avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jama tries for a takedown but Drew sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jama misses with a looping right. Drew ducks under a wild hook from Jama. No luck for Drew with that takedown attempt. Drew tries to clinch but Jama is having none of it. Drew scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
It looks like Dirk Jama has been cut. Jama bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Drew's head backwards. Drew uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jama. Jama loads up on a big right hand but Drew slips the punch. Jama changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Drew misses with a jab, cross combination.

Jama fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Drew is breathing heavily. No joy there for Jama, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Drew defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jama. Tyson Drew has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dirk Jama. Drew tries to clinch but Jama moves out of range. Jama lands a jab. Drew looks to score with a jab to the body but Jama is just out of range. Drew scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Jama has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jama is pushing Drew's head away, looking to escape. Drew manages to hold on to the position though. Drew tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Jama tries to improve position but can't. An elbow from Drew crashes against the mat.
Drew landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Drew tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jama's legs. Drew lands a decent elbow from side control. Jama is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jama pushes Drew away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Drew gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Drew cracks Jama with a big right hand but Jama just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Drew in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Jama is looking for a sweep. Drew scores with punches from side control. Drew tries to advance to mount but can't. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jama takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Drew throwing strikes but missing, from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Tyson Drew will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Dirk Jama's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

No luck with that takedown attempt from Jama. Tyson Drew is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Drew connects with a looping right hand.
Jama connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Jama might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Jama blocks the body kick.
Jama stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jama wants it to stay on the feet. Jama scores with a jab to the jaw. A left and a right from Jama both land. Nice combination. Jama is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Jama slips a jab from Drew. Jama has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Drew just misses with a punch to the body.
Jama clobbers Drew with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Drew fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jama on the side of the head. Drew lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jama moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Drew misses with a double jab.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The fight stays on the outside here - Drew looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jama misses with a takedown attempt - Drew sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drew connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Jama shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Jama missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Jama thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Drew to regain full guard. Jama is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Drew has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Jama is looking to defend but Drew has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Jama! Drew pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Jama taps out and this one is all over!
