Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Cotharn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Silverstav (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Cotharn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kim Silverstav! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silverstav throws a sloppy head kick and Cotharn moves out of range easily. Cotharn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Silverstav with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cotharn avoids the head kick by Silverstav.
No luck for Cotharn with that takedown attempt. Cotharn drives through with a takedown into guard. Silverstav is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cotharn is controlling him. Cotharn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Silverstav utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Silverstav wants to get back to his feet but Cotharn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cotharn is pushing down on Silverstav's leg trying to pass to half guard. Silverstav is fighting to maintain full guard but Cotharn has managed to sneak the leg through. Cotharn is looking to advance position but Silverstav won't allow it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Silverstav throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cotharn. Silverstav tries a head kick but it misses.

Cotharn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cotharn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Cotharn with a flurry of punches that miss. Silverstav keeping moving, preventing Cotharn from controlling successfully. Silverstav avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cotharn trying to control the position from guard on top but Silverstav is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Silverstav is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cotharn is controlling him. Silverstav looks gassed!
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Nice sprawl there from Silverstav as Cotharn shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Cotharn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silverstav connects with a high kick. Some wild striking there from Cotharn.

and Cotharn counters with a two punch combo. Cotharn throws the left hand but Silverstav avoids the punch easily. Silverstav tries a head kick but it misses.

Cotharn feints and as Silverstav raises his hands in defense, Cotharn changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Silverstav wants to stand but Cotharn is controlling the position. Cotharn advances to half guard. Cotharn missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Cotharn throwing shots but Silverstav is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silverstav is refusing to be controlled, as Cotharn sits in half guard. Cotharn controlling the action here. Cotharn passes to side control. Silverstav prevents Cotharn from moving into mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Cotharn dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Cotharn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Silverstav pinned against the cage. Silverstav gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Nice sprawl there from Silverstav as Cotharn shoots in. A head kick from Silverstav lands but Cotharn takes it in his stride. Silverstav throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Cotharn throws a combination that misses and Silverstav counters with a nice kick to the body. Cotharn shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Silverstav defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Cotharn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Horrible takedown by Cotharn or perhaps it was just good defense by Silverstav which made him look bad. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Silverstav scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
That's one minute gone in the round. Silverstav thows a body kick. Cotharn tries to catch it but that hurt him. Silverstav lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Left hook, right uppercut from Silverstav. Silverstav turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Cotharn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Silverstav. Silverstav throws a combination. Cotharn tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Silverstav throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cotharn. No joy there for Silverstav, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cotharn tries to move into range but Silverstav moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Silverstav lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Kim Silverstav is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Silverstav tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Mark Cotharn is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silverstav throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Cotharn's head. Cotharn misses with a wild body shot. Silverstav tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Silverstav misses with a looping left. Silverstav connects with a jab. Cotharn scores with a one two! Silverstav had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Cotharn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cotharn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silverstav but Silverstav pushes him off and we're back to square one. Silverstav misses with a head kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cotharn blocks a jab. Cotharn scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Kim Silverstav seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Silverstav throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
so Cotharn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Silverstav is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cotharn is controlling him. Cotharn is looking to work some ground and pound but Silverstav has wrist control. Cotharn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Silverstav wants to stand and escape but Cotharn is having none of it. Cotharn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Silverstav is keeping the position for now. Cotharn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Silverstav is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Silverstav keeping full guard, as Cotharn tries to pass.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Silverstav misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cotharn.
Cotharn shoots in and drives through. Silverstav sprawls well. Cotharn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Silverstav swivels and escapes. Silverstav misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cotharn fails with the takedown. Silverstav fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Cotharn looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Silverstav goes for a high kick. It partially lands. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kim Silverstav showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Cotharn looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Silverstav is fending him off so far but Cotharn persists. Nope, Silverstav circles away and we're back to standing. Silverstav tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Silverstav leaves Cotharn with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Cotharn takes a head kick and keeps coming.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cotharn lands a decent elbow from side control. Silverstav parries the strikes from Cotharn easily there. Cotharn is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Silverstav to escape.
Silverstav wants to get back to his feet but Cotharn drags him back down. Cotharn throwing strikes but missing, from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cotharn is looking to take a break and control but Silverstav is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Silverstav dodges the ground and pound from Cotharn. Cotharn landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Cotharn wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silverstav keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cotharn misses with a takedown attempt - Silverstav sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Cotharn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Silverstav tries a head kick but it misses.
Cotharn moves out of range as Silverstav strikes. Cotharn shoots for a double leg takedown but Silverstav sprawls well. He's pushed Cotharn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Cotharn chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Silverstav can pounce on him.
Silverstav throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cotharn on the side of the head. Silverstav slips a jab from Cotharn. Jab from Silverstav.

Cotharn shoots for a double leg takedown but Silverstav sprawls well. He's pushed Cotharn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Cotharn is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Silverstav. Silverstav looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Cotharn looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Silverstav is fending him off so far but Cotharn persists. Nope, Silverstav circles away and we're back to standing. Nice cross by Silverstav. A head kick misses from Silverstav. Cotharn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silverstav's waist but Silverstav gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cotharn off to one side.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Silverstav throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cotharn throws a right hand that Silverstav ducks under and follows up with a left that Silverstav also avoids with ease. Cotharn fails with a takedown attempt. Silverstav throws a nice head kick!
Silverstav throws a nice outside leg kick. Silverstav works Cotharn's body with a nice hook. Cotharn shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silverstav but Silverstav pushes him off and we're back to square one. Cotharn missing with a left hand there. Silverstav was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Silverstav lands a two punch combo.
And that's the end of the fight! Kim Silverstav comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Silverstav has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
