PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yuri Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenneth Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yuri Silver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kenneth Paul!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paul closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Silver looking for submissions off his back.
Silver misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Paul throws a strike but Silver avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Paul really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silver. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Paul trying to stand up but can't free himself from Silver's guard.
Silver pulls Paul in to control the position.
Silver looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Paul puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Silver on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Paul content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Paul trying to pass the guard but Silver defending well.
Silver tries to get to full guard but Paul has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silver looks like he's trying to stand up.
Paul throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Silver is not content to let Paul control the position.
Paul looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Silver with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Silver is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Paul is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Silver tries to clinch
and Paul counters with a series of strikes. Silver will be more careful next time no doubt.

Paul drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Paul trying to control the position but Silver is working away.
Silver is breathing heavily.
Silver is trying to control Paul's posture but Paul avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Silver pushes Paul away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Paul gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Paul landing a few strikes.
You can see the frustration on Silver's face as Paul controls the position.
Paul wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silver keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Paul with the ground and pound but Silver regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Paul seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Silver does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Silver is defending against the submission attempts here by Paul.

And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.

Kenneth Paul dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Silver dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Yuri Silver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice takedown defense from Silver. No joy for Paul on that attempt.
Silver darts in trying to clinch

and Paul counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silver's guard now.
Paul trying to control but Silver is working from the bottom.
Silver lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Paul!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Paul is looking to get to half guard.

Paul wants to try and get back to his feet.
Silver connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Paul working to try and regain half guard.

Silver has isolated one of Paul's arms. Paul looking to fight him off but Silver twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
