Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Downer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Cabbage Snatcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Luke Downer has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Downer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, The Cabbage Snatcher! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Snatcher tries to keep at a distance but Downer has taken the fight into the clinch. Snatcher is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Downer gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Downer prevents Snatcher from breaking the clinch. Snatcher takes a knee right on the jaw!
It looks like The Cabbage Snatcher has been cut. Downer breaks the clinch.
Downer tries to close the distance and clinch but Snatcher swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Downer tries to clinch but Snatcher moves out of range. Snatcher gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Downer tries to stand but Snatcher is controlling from the bottom. Snatcher seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Downer wants to control from the top but Snatcher keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Downer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Snatcher throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Downer looking to sit in guard and control but Snatcher gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Downer wants to stand and escape but Snatcher is having none of it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Snatcher misses with a takedown and Downer counters with a takedown into side control. Snatcher tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Downer wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Snatcher wants to control but Downer postures up. Snatcher wants to get back to his feet but Downer drags him back down. Downer landing strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Snatcher is looking to regain half guard here but Downer keeps moving and retains side control. Downer stands up. Downer scores with a one two! Snatcher had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Downer gets the takedown into side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Snatcher manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Snatcher keeping hold of Downer's head, controlling as best he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Snatcher is not content to let Downer control the position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Downer is looking to stall here but Snatcher recovers full guard. Downer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Snatcher is trying to control the position but Downer postures up. Downer wants to control from the top but Snatcher keeps moving. Downer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Snatcher has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Downer has managed to get both his arms back between Snatcher's legs - danger averted. Snatcher is looking for a triangle but Downer pushes his legs off easily.
Snatcher looks gassed!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Downer won't allow Snatcher to sweep him here. Snatcher is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Snatcher looking to control.
Snatcher is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Snatcher wants to sweep here but Downer controlling him for the moment. Snatcher looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luke Downer dominated that round. The cut man is working on The Cabbage Snatcher's cut. That's time! Downer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
A head kick misses from Downer. Downer is looking to clinch. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Snatcher. Luke Downer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Downer connects with a right hand. Snatcher shakes it off. Downer tries to clinch but Snatcher is having none of it. Downer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Snatcher manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Snatcher wants to sweep here but Downer controlling him for the moment. Downer trying to control but Snatcher is working from the bottom. Snatcher is pulling down on Downer's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Snatcher is trying to keep Downer in close.
Downer wants to stand but Snatcher has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Downer postures up.
Downeris looking to pass into half guard but Snatcher pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Snatcher is in guard. Snatcher sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Downer's guard. Snatcher works his way into full mount! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Snatcher trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Snatcher content just to control the position here. Snatcher dominating with strikes here. Snatcher putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Snatcher avoids the attempt from Downer to control. Snatcher looking to finish Downer with some ground and pound. This is bad for Downer! Snatcher content just to control the position here. Snatcher postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Downer looks a forlorn figure.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Downer is trying to reverse the position but instead Snatcher has taken his back - oops! Oooh a big shot gets through from Snatcher. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Snatcher gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Downer turns into Snatcher and is now in his guard.
Downer throwing strikes from guard but Snatcher blocks nicely. Downer wants to stand but Snatcher has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Snatcher throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Snatcher uses the cage to get back to his feet.
A big left from Snatcher misses. Snatcher is looking to land body kicks. Snatcher will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Downer lands with a hook. Snatcher tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Snatcher with a lazy takedown attempt and Downer counters with a big head kick but Snatcher shrugs it off. Downer throws a quick inside leg kick. Snatcher swats away the attempt to clinch by Downer. Snatcher gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Downer counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Luke Downer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Cabbage Snatcher. Downer is keen to just control but Snatcher is a slippery customer. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Luke Downer dominated that second round. The cut man is working on The Cabbage Snatcher's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Downer clinches. Nice elbow from Downer. Downer changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Snatcher fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Snatcher shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Snatcher was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Downer is squirming around, avoiding Snatcher's attempts to control the action. Snatcher landing strikes from the mount and Downer is in trouble! Luke Downer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Downer is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
The referee warns Downer that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Snatcher looking to control but Downer is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Downer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Snatcher tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Downer keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Downer is working hard here to advance position. Snatcher has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Downer's face.
Downer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Snatcher is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Downer can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Snatcher tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Downer is in all sorts of trouble here.
Snatcher working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Downer is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Snatcher tries to control but Downer wriggling away. Snatcher is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Downer can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Downer tries to reverse the position but Snatcher maintains control. Downer wants to control but Snatcher is having none of it. Snatcher tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Downer tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Snatcher takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Snatcher landing punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Snatcher landing strikes, looking to finish! Snatcher has control of Downer's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Downer regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Downer bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Snatcher controls Downer momentarily but Downer frees himself. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Downer trying to control the position from guard on top but Snatcher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The Cabbage Snatcher has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Snatcher looking for a guillotine here but Downer defends easily.
And that's the end of the fight! The Cabbage Snatcher comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Downer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
