Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiro Miyagi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Greco!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Greco changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Miyagi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Greco is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Miyagi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Miyagi sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Miyagi missing with punches from the bottom.
Miyagi wants to get back to full guard.
Miyagi gets full guard.
Greco must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Miyagi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Greco slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Greco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miyagi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Greco shoots in and drives through. Miyagi sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Greco or perhaps it was just good defense by Miyagi which made him look bad.

Miyagi shoots in and bounces Greco off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Miyagi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Miyagi seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Greco is in trouble now - Miyagi has advanced to mount!

The referee warns Greco that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Miyagi is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Greco can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Greco is still in real trouble! Can Miyagi finish him?
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Greco can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Miyagi cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Miyagi connects with a bit shot that sees Greco covering up! More strikes from Miyagi and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Miyagi is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hiro Miyagi!
