Russell's entrance music is British Marching Tune - The British Grenadiers. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Russell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, bertie bertles!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Russell throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. bertles was covering up waiting for the punch and Russell finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Russell pushes down on bertles's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Russell seems to be looking for submissions.

Russell wants to work for an arm triangle but bertles is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Russell is looking for a kimura here.
Russell trying to mount his opponent but bertles defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Russell is trying to control the action in half guard but bertles is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Russell throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Russell is working for a kimura but bertles is defending it quite comfortably.

Russell is sneakily working for an arm triangle but bertles sees it coming and defends easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Russell is pressing down on bertles's thigh, looking to free his foot. bertles is holding on for now.
Russell trying to control the action but bertles is working from the bottom.
Russell not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
bertles lands with a kick to the temple. Russell shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

That's three minutes gone in the round.
bertles throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Russell shoots in and bounces bertles off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Russell passes bertles's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Russell is looking for a kimura but bertles is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Russell to get the leverage.

Russell stands up and beckons bertles to join him on the feet.

Russell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming bertles to the mat! bertles manages to get full guard.
bertles looks gassed!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
bertles trying to keep a closed guard but Russell is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Russell in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
bertles really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Russell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Russell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
bertles has a closed guard, preventing Russell from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Russell dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


bertles throws a sloppy head kick and Russell moves out of range easily.
bertles fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Russell is defended easily by bertles.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

bertles gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Russell to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Russell trying to control but bertles is working from the bottom.
Russell scoring with some ground and pound.

Russell drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Russell jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

bertles is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Russell trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but bertles manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
bertles scoring with some ground and pound.

Russell has his foot on bertles's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. bertles works his way back into a safe position though.
bertles throws a strike but Russell rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Russell trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

bertles can't keep his opponent in guard - Russell advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Russell throwing shots but bertles is blocking nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Russell looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Russell is sneakily working for an arm triangle but bertles sees it coming and defends easily.

Russell is looking for a kimura here.
Russell scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Russell dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Russell throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
bertles is looking to clinch.
bertles tries to clinch but Russell is having none of it.
Russell feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to bertles's calf.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Russell misses with a few strikes there.

Russell fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. bertles sprawls well initially but Russell persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
bertles takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Russell seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. bertles is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jack Russell!
