Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Karim Chamakh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chamakh comes to the cage accompanied by Linda Sundblad - To All My Girls. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karim Chamakh!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Hunt!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunt lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Chamakh backs up against the cage.


It looks like Karim Chamakh has been cut.

Chamakh closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hunt to the mat! Hunt manages to get full guard.
Chamakh pushes down on Hunt's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Chamakh stalling.

Chamakh has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hunt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chamakh pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Chamakh frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Karim Chamakh will probably get the nod.

Chamakh closes the distance and clinches up with Hunt, looking for a takedown. Chamakh pushes Hunt against the cage but Hunt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chamakh shoots in but Hunt avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hunt fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hunt tries to clinch there but Chamakh circles away.
Chamakh shoots for a double leg takedown but Hunt sprawls well. He's pushed Chamakh's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chamakh fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Hunt tries to close the distance and clinch but Chamakh swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Chamakh shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hunt sprawls well. Hunt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chamakh gets slowly back to his feet.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hunt is in trouble now - Chamakh has advanced to mount!

Chamakh tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hunt tries to reverse the position but Chamakh maintains control.
Chamakh takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Chamakh tries for a takedown but Hunt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Chamakh shoots in looking for a takedown. Hunt tries to sprawl out of it but Chamakh keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hunt manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Chamakh misses with a takedown attempt - Hunt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karim Chamakh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chamakh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
