PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trey Money (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Money comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Triumph by Wu Tang Clan kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Trey Money told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paul Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Trey Money!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Money shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Money was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Money unloads with some shots from mount but Peterson bucks and avoids them well.
Money throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Peterson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Money tries to control but Peterson wriggling away.
Peterson tries to lock up and control but Money gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Money trying to control but Peterson is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peterson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Peterson pushes Money off looking to stand but Money dives back in and keeps control.
Money wants to pass the guard but Peterson is defending well.
Peterson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Money scores with a couple of nice shots.
Money wants to get back to his feet.
Money not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Money scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Money thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Peterson's head.
Peterson wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are battling for position here. Peterson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Money trying to control the position from guard on top but Peterson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Money sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Peterson's guard.
Peterson is breathing heavily.
Peterson is looking to escape.
Peterson wants to get back to full guard.
Money is looking to take a break and control but Peterson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Money has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Money in particular looking to stall.

Money decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Peterson wants to control but Money is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Horrible takedown by Money or perhaps it was just good defense by Peterson which made him look bad.
Money lands with a nice combination. Peterson backs away looking to recover.
Peterson stuffs the takedown attempt from Money. Money gets slowly back to his feet.

Money tries to close the distance and clinch up but Peterson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Peterson gets caught flat footed, as Money shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Peterson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Money drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Peterson dives on top into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Peterson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Peterson wants to pass the guard but Money is keeping the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Peterson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Money's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trey Money dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Peterson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A head kick misses from Money.
Money throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peterson's waist but Peterson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Money off to one side.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Money is defended easily by Peterson.
Money fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Paul Peterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trey Money.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Peterson.
Money keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Money gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Money escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Peterson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Money.

Money scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Money working the head with strikes.

Money is trying to get an arm triangle but Peterson is defending well.
Money looking to control but instead Peterson has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Money thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Peterson is trying to control but can't.

Money thows a huge punch but Peterson dodges it nicely.
Money scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Money uses his free foot to push down on Peterson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Peterson.
Peterson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Money connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Money lands a big elbow.
Money lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Money lands with some strikes.
Money has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Peterson's face.
BOOM! Money connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Money with a couple of short strikes.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Money cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Peterson tries to hold on but Money postures up.
Money landing strikes, looking to finish!
Money breaks from Peterson's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Peterson can't escape the position.
Peterson tries to hold on but Money postures up.

Peterson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Money locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Peterson is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Trey Money!
