PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shah Rokhan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kaleb Strader (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaleb Strader told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shah Rokhan!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kaleb Strader!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rokhan takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Nice takedown defense from Strader. No joy for Rokhan on that attempt.

Rokhan shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Rokhan prevents Strader from getting the reversal.
Strader regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rokhan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Strader slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Strader looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rokhan sitting in guard here, content to control.
Rokhan advances to half guard.
Rokhan working over Strader with some ground and pound. Strader looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Rokhan keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Strader is looking for a sweep. Rokhan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Strader lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
Rokhan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rokhan content to control rather than advance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Strader flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Well, if Rokhan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Rokhan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Strader for as long as he can get away with.
Strader wants to improve his position but Rokhan is controlling well.

Rokhan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Strader wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rokhan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Strader is looking to improve his position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Strader fails with the takedown

and Rokhan counters with a shoot takedown. Strader fights it but they end up in guard.

Rokhan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Strader looks gassed!

Rokhan gets the takedown into side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Rokhan tries to advance to mount but can't.
Strader tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rokhan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rokhan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Strader to his feet.
Strader throws a head kick that misses.
Rokhan throws a nice outside leg kick.
Strader fails to land with a series of punches.

Rokhan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Strader turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Strader works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.


It looks like Shah Rokhan has been cut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rokhan is not in a great position here, taking some shots.


Rokhan is rocked!


Shah Rokhan's cut is getting worse.
Strader working the head with strikes.
Oh Rokhan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!


Shah Rokhan's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Rokhan takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Strader works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.


Jeez, Shah Rokhan's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Shah Rokhan's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Kaleb Strader!
