PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Rabago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Pasano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rabago's entrance music is Enter Shikari- Juggernut. A fine choice. The key to victory for Adam Rabago has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Rabago!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Pasano!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Rabago looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rabago fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Pasano drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The strikes coming from Pasano are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Pasano has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Pasano looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Rabago sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Pasano is working for a submission of some sort.

Pasano is trying to control. Rabago wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pasano lands a nice short elbow.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rabago is controlling Pasano's trapped leg to prevent Pasano from advancing to side control.

Pasano tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pasano has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Pasano thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Pasano tries for a kimura but Rabago is defending well.
Rabago is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Pasano has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Pasano goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rabago has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pasano but great work by Rabago.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pasano drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rabago manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pasano has Rabago in his guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Rabago creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Pasano is looking for a sweep.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ground and pound from Rabago seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Rabago wants to control but Pasano is keeping him busy.
Rabago wants to stand but Pasano has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jon Pasano showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Rabago gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Pasano counters by moving into the clinch.

Rabago has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Pasano is trying to keep an underhook but Rabago manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Pasano is trying to control but can't.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pasano can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rabago stalling.
Pasano tries to roll over but Rabago keeps him under control.

Rabago takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rabago seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pasano for as long as he can get away with.
Pasano tries to roll over but Rabago keeps him under control.
Rabago wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Pasano uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rabago throws and elbow that misses. Pasano uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rabago's guard. Nice move by Pasano!

Jon Pasano is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pasano slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Pasano stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rabago swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Adam Rabago has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jon Pasano.
Pasano connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Rabago momentarily.

I would just about give that final round to Jon Pasano.
Well Pasano has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
