The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shirley is looking to take a break and control but Bob is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shirley goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bob has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Shirley but great work by Bob.
Bob is looking to take a break and control but Shirley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Shirley takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Bob gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bob is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Shirley postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bob is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Shirley, into his guard.
Bob is looking to work some ground and pound but Shirley has wrist control.

Shirley lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bob!

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Bob looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Shirley! Submission of the night perhaps?
