Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jorge Sanchez struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. John Askren has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Askren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jorge Sanchez! The judges for this bout are , and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Askren scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sanchez doesn't seem bothered though. Askren with a jab. Sanchez tries to keep at a distance but Askren has taken the fight into the clinch. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Askren creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Sanchez tries to score a body lock takedown but Askren shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Askren stops a takedown attempt from Sanchez.
Askren lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Askren lands on the inside with an uppercut. A nice left hand lands by Askren.
Sanchez looks gassed! Sanchez goes for a takedown attempt but Askren pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
John Askren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorge Sanchez. Askren throws a good cross that connects.
Askren throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sanchez on the side of the head. Askren rushes Sanchez and presses him up against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Askren lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Askren prevents the takedown attempt.
Sanchez's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Sanchez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Askren is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Sanchez to the mat. Sanchez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Askren is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Askren postures up in Sanchez's guard and throws a big left but Sanchez blocks it. Askren with a nice head shot there. Askren knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Askren sitting in guard, not really doing much. Askren missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Askren tries to free his leg and advance position but Sanchez is retaining full guard. Askren stands up over Sanchez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Askren doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Askren manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Sanchez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Askren defends it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Sanchez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Askren controls the pace. Sanchez looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Askren passes into half guard.
Askren perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Askren. Sanchez takes one to the chin there. Sanchez walks into a jab. Askren scores with a jab to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Askren lands with a right hand. Askren clinches up against the cage. Still in the clinch, Askren scores with a nice short uppercut. Askren lands with a left to the head. Askren lands with a short shot to the head. Askren digs a right hand underneath Sanchez's ribcage. Sanchez let out a lung full of air as it connected. A short uppercut from Askren.
Sanchez is rocked! Askren scores with an uppercut up the middle. Sanchez is still on wobbly legs! Can Askren finish him? With the fighters clinched against the cage, Askren creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Askren lands a big right hand that drops Sanchez! The killer instinct kicks in and Askren finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Askren!
