Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Lentz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Winters! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lentz slips under a jab from Winters. Lentz scores with a takedown into Winters's guard. Winters keeping full guard, as Lentz tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lentz loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lentz trying to control the position from guard on top but Winters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lentz passes Winters's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Lentz is looking to take a break and control but Winters is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lentz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Winters is refusing to be controlled, as Lentz sits in half guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lentz shoots for a double leg takedown but Winters sprawls well. He's pushed Lentz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Winters stuffs the takedown. Lentz fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Lentz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Winters throws a hook to the side of Lentz's head but Lentz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ryan Winters is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Winters swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Nice defenses there by Lentz. Lentz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Winters tries to avoid it but Lentz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Winters to the ground. Winters escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A big right from Winters misses. Lentz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lentz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Lentz is looking to work some ground and pound but Winters has wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lentz wants to control from the top but Winters keeps moving. Lentz stands and throws Winters's legs to the side, diving into side control. Lentz is breathing heavily. Winters is not content to let Lentz control the position. Winters is trying to buck Lentz off. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Winters can do anything to dispel that myth. Lentz postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Winters defending against the ground and pound.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Winters will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A swing and a miss from Winters. Winters misses with a straight left. Winters throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lentz sees it coming and avoids it easily. Winters misses with a hook. Lentz tries for a takedown but Winters sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Winters keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A combination from Winters does no damage. Lentz decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Lentz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Winters really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lentz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lentz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Winters keeps working. Lentz throwing shots but Winters is blocking nicely. Lentz performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Lentz is trying to control the action in half guard but Winters is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lentz is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Winters is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Lentz dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ryan Winters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Winters looks to throw the jab but Lentz is out of range. Winters stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Lentz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Winters thows a left - swing and a miss! A telegraphed right hand from Winters misses the target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lentz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Winters. Lentz moves away from the strike by Winters. Lentz tries for a takedown but Winters sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Winters throws a series of punches but Lentz moves out of range. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Winters stuffs the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lentz needs to keep his hands up - Winters had a free shot at his head there. Winters fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lentz fails with a takedown attempt. Lentz shoots in looking for a takedown. Winters tries to sprawl out of it but Lentz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Winters manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Winters waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lentz. Winters lands a jab. Winters defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lentz. George Lentz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Winters moves into range and connects with a jab. Winters loads up on a big right hand but Lentz slips the punch. Lentz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Winters as he avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Lentz ducks under a wild hook from Winters. A slow jab from Winters misses its intended target. Winters lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Lentz takes a jab right on the kisser.
Lentz shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Winters defends it nicely. Winters swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A combination from Winters does no damage. Nice sprawl there from Winters as Lentz shoots in. Winters might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Winters misses with a two punch combination.
Winters throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lentz. Lentz tries for a takedown but Winters sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Winters throws a right hand that Lentz ducks under and follows up with a left that Lentz also avoids with ease.

Lentz misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Winters moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Winters leaves Lentz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Winters misses with a hook. Lentz ducked under it nicely. Winters swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lentz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Lentz wants to free his trapped foot but Winters is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Winters wants to get back to his feet. Lentz is trying for a kimura here. Winters looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Lentz wins by kimura!
