PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Phillip McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keast Kann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phillip McGee is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Phillip McGee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Keast Kann!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kann displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McGee.
McGee uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kann.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kann. McGee does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kann shoots and misses

and McGee counters with a single leg into guard. Kann didn't expect that.
McGee trying to control the position from guard on top but Kann is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kann not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McGee is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

McGee stays in close to Kann's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McGee throws a strike but Kann rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as McGee holds on and takes a little breather.

McGee is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kann is aware though and is defending well.

and Kann decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McGee's guard.

McGee throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

and Kann counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Phillip McGee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kann slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Kann is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McGee knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
McGee is looking to regain half guard here but Kann keeps moving and retains side control.
McGee might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Keast Kann showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

McGee is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kann's half guard.
Kann is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kann is not content to let McGee control the position.
Still in half guard, McGee seems content to control.

McGee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kann does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kann is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kann tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McGee was well out of range. Poor timing from Kann.
McGee has his takedown stuffed

and Kann counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

That was a close fourth round but I would say that Phillip McGee will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



McGee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kann looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! McGee has picked Kann up and slammed him! Kann can't keep hold of the triangle and McGee manages to pass to side control!
The referee asks McGee politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. McGee prefers to stall for the moment though.

McGee stands up and beckons Kann to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Kann darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
McGee makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McGee.
McGee is controlling Kann's posture.

Kann thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Kann avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGee is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
McGee is trying to control the position but Kann postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Phillip McGee.
Nice uppercut there from Kann.
McGee fails with the takedown

and Kann counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McGee's guard now.

McGee is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kann sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McGee's guard.

Kann prevents McGee from getting the reversal.

Kann is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McGee to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McGee shrugs it off.
Kann wants to control the pace but McGee is squirming around nicely.

Kann goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now McGee is on top in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Keast Kann.
I think McGee has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
