The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kazekage fails with a takedown attempt from distance. McGregor throws a combination. Kazekage tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Gaara Kazekage has been cut. Kazekage lands a nice looking kick to the body. McGregor takes a step back to recover. McGregor thows a left - swing and a miss! Kazekage looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. McGregor stuffs the takedown attempt from Kazekage. Kazekage gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gaara Kazekage. That's going to take a lot out of him. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kazekage. McGregor connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Kazekage shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McGregor pinned against the cage. McGregor gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Kazekage takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Kazekage misses with a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kazekage wants to clinch up but McGregor keeps it at a distance. Kazekage scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kazekage is breathing heavily. Kazekage trying to pass the guard but McGregor defending well. McGregor is trying to stand.
Kazekage is nestled in close to McGregor, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. McGregor pushes Kazekage off looking to stand but Kazekage dives back in and keeps control.
Kazekage content to control rather than advance. Kazekage has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. McGregor pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A shot to the liver by McGregor. Beautiful body shot. Kazekage fails to land with a series of punches.
A combination from McGregor does no damage. Kazekage shoots in for a double leg but McGregor sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. McGregor lands a right hook to the body.

McGregor throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. McGregor looks to land a combination. Kazekage sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. McGregor throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. McGregor stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McGregor wants it to stay on the feet. McGregor explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Kazekage really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McGregor throws a sloppy head kick and Kazekage moves out of range easily. McGregor misses the shot to the body. Kazekage wants to clinch. A combination from McGregor does no damage. Gaara Kazekage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A swing and a miss from Kazekage. McGregor lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. McGregor defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kazekage. McGregor lets loose with a powerful body kick. Kazekage will feel that in the morning. McGregor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kazekage shoots in looking for a takedown. McGregor tries to sprawl out of it but Kazekage keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McGregor manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. McGregor connects with a single shot there. Kazekage has a takedown stuffed. Kazekage avoids the body shot from McGregor.
McGregor throws a head kick that misses and Kazekage counters with a takedown into side control. McGregor is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kazekage is controlling him well. Kazekage tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McGregor managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kazekage.

Daniel McGregor dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gaara Kazekage's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Kazekage fails miserably with a takedown attempt. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Horrible takedown by Kazekage or perhaps it was just good defense by McGregor which made him look bad. McGregor throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kazekage blocks a head kick by McGregor.
Kazekage shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gaara Kazekage. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kazekage shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. McGregor lands with a slapping head kick. McGregor lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kazekage backs up against the cage.
McGregor cracks Kazekage with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Kazekage shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McGregor napping and manages to drive through into side control! McGregor bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! A punch combination from McGregor misses. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kazekage steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from McGregor. That one must have hurt. Gaara Kazekage is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McGregor throws a right hand that Kazekage ducks under and follows up with a left that Kazekage also avoids with ease. Kazekage moves out of range as McGregor strikes. Kazekage looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Kazekage looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. McGregor is not content to let Kazekage control the position. McGregor wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kazekage pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McGregor is keeping the position for now. McGregor kicks Kazekage off and gets to his feet. McGregor fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kazekage. McGregor throws a head kick that misses. McGregor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kazekage moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kazekage is looking to clinch. McGregor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Kazekage drops his hands momentarily and McGregor takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Kazekage drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McGregor bucks up and tries to throw Kazekage off but instead Kazekage has got his back! Kazekage lands an elbow to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kazekage thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Kazekage lands a shot to the body. Kazekage wants to control the position but McGregor frees himself and scrambles - Kazekage manages to regain control in side control.
Kazekage is looking to take a break and control but McGregor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. McGregor is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A head kick from McGregor lands but Kazekage takes it in his stride. McGregor throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kazekage tries to clinch but McGregor moves out of range. McGregor leaves Kazekage with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kazekage takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. McGregor fails to land with a series of punches.
Kazekage scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Kazekage trying to control the position but McGregor is working away. McGregor gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! McGregor wants to get back to his feet but in bucking up he's left an arm hanging out! Kazekage has locked onto it and has pulled off a slick armbar! McGregor taps furiously! This one is all over!
