The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coganobitch throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Midnight's head.
It looks like Jex Midnight has been cut.
Coganobitch steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Midnight.
Midnight avoids the head kick by Coganobitch.
Coganobitch tries to clinch up.
Coganobitch lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Coganobitch scores a takedown into full mount!
Midnight is rocked!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Midnight tries to hold on but Coganobitch postures up.
Coganobitch wants to get back to his feet but Midnight is holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Midnight is wriggling around trying to escape.
Midnight is squirming around, avoiding Coganobitch's attempts to control the action.
Midnight is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Coganobitch trying to control but Midnight is having none of it.
Coganobitch wants to stand but Midnight is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

Midnight is in all sorts of trouble here.
Midnight sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Midnight is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Midnight escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Coganobitch gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Coganobitch won't allow Midnight to sweep him here.

Coganobitch has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Coganobitch tries to clinch but Midnight is having none of it.
Midnight takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Midnight gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Coganobitch to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Midnight has a closed guard, preventing Coganobitch from standing up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Midnight lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Coganobitch!

Coganobitch on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Coganobitch tries to get out of the position.
Midnight throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Coganobitch is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Midnight is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Coganobitch has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coganobitch's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Midnight working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Coganobitch turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Midnight off and cradles Coganobitch's limp body as Midnight celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jex Midnight!
