Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gorlan Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Puiu Micu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gorlan Karelin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Puiu Micu!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Micu chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Micu fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Micu shoots in for a takedown but Karelin shows good takedown defense.
Micu fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gorlan Karelin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Puiu Micu.
Micu throws a quick inside leg kick.
Karelin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Micu slaps away a takedown attempt from Karelin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Karelin is breathing heavily.
Karelin looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Karelin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Micu manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Karelin manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Micu throws a big right hand that misses.
Micu wanted to stand there but Karelin had control of the position.
Micu drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Micu jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Micu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Micu throws and elbow that misses. Karelin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Micu's guard. Nice move by Karelin!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Karelin working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Micu's head.
Micu looking for a guillotine here but Karelin defends easily.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Karelin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Micu's half guard.
Micu wants to get back to full guard but Karelin has passed into side control.
Micu is in all sorts of trouble here.

Micu is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Micu throwing hammer fists to the chest of Karelin. What's that going to do exactly?
Micu throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Karelin looking to control and managing it successfully.
Micu regains half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Micu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Micu throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Micu is trying to get back to full guard.
Karelin is looking to take a break and control but Micu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Micu misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Micu pushes Karelin off looking to stand but Karelin dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Gorlan Karelin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Karelin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Micu sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Karelin somewhat.

and Micu counters with an inside leg kick.
Micu shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Karelin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Micu won't be happy with that.
Micu is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Micu landing small, sideways elbows.
Karelin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Micu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Micu looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Micu is trying to stand.

Micu tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Micu wants to sweep but Karelin has passed to side control!
Micu tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Micu can't do much from the bottom here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Karelin scores a takedown into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Micu throwing hammer fists to the chest of Karelin. What's that going to do exactly?
Karelin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Micu on the ground.
Micu tries to lock up and control but Karelin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Karelin controlling his opponent.
Micu sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Micu moves into full guard.
Micu looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Karelin passes into side control.

Karelin trying to control the position but Micu is working away.
Micu throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.

Micu manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Micu is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.

Karelin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Karelin avoids the attempt from Micu to control.
Micu's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gorlan Karelin dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Micu misses with a takedown
and Karelin counters with a shoot takedown. Micu fights it but they end up in guard.
Karelin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Karelin is standing up over Micu. Micu looks to escape but Karelin dives into side control.
Micu is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Karelin is controlling him well.
Micu is not content to let Karelin control the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Micu is trying to get back to half guard.

Micu tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Karelin moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Micu is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Karelin asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Micu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Karelin counters with a single leg into guard. Micu didn't expect that.
Micu thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Micu doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Karelin has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Micu to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Karelin is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Micu pulls down on the head and he's put Karelin to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Puiu Micu!
