Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksandr Progbeniak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Higga Bigga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bigga has chosen Back on my feet as his entrance music. Higga Bigga will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Aleksandr Progbeniak!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Higga Bigga!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bigga throws a hook but Progbeniak avoids it easily.
Progbeniak fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Bigga stuffs the takedown.

Progbeniak scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Progbeniak stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Progbeniak shoots in but no luck this time.

Bigga moves in looking to clinch but Progbeniak pushes him off.

Progbeniak drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bigga manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Progbeniak has Bigga in his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bigga controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Bigga got a little sloppy there for a moment and Progbeniak has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bigga has managed to get both his arms back between Progbeniak's legs - danger averted.

Progbeniak bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bigga's guard.

Progbeniak slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Progbeniak can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bigga is looking to escape.

That was a close round but I would say that Aleksandr Progbeniak will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Progbeniak takes a swing at Bigga's ribcage but misses.
Progbeniak shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bigga as he jumps to the side.
Progbeniak fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Progbeniak closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Progbeniak wants to take a breather but Bigga is having none of it.
Bigga blocking the ground and pound attempt from Progbeniak.
Progbeniak is looking to take a break and control but Bigga is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bigga wants to get back to full guard.
Bigga is breathing heavily.

Progbeniak is working for a kimura but Bigga is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Progbeniak wants to pass to mount but Bigga is defending the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Progbeniak shoots for a double leg takedown but Bigga sprawls well. He's pushed Progbeniak's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Progbeniak shoots in looking for a takedown. Bigga tries to sprawl out of it but Progbeniak keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bigga manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Bigga rushes Progbeniak and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Bigga tries to clinch but Progbeniak is having none of it.

Progbeniak shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bigga is trying to defend but Progbeniak finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Progbeniak is taking a breather. Bigga says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Bigga wants to get back to his feet.
Progbeniak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bigga keeps working.
Progbeniak is really struggling to control Bigga but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bigga throws a series of strikes that have Progbeniak backpedaling.
Progbeniak shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bigga sprawls well. Bigga wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Progbeniak gets slowly back to his feet.
Progbeniak throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bigga counters with a straight right hand.
Bigga rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Progbeniak moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Progbeniak fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Progbeniak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bigga circles away.
Progbeniak shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Higga Bigga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Higga Bigga is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bigga is looking to improve his position but Progbeniak isn't that keen on the idea.
Bigga really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Progbeniak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Progbeniak takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
