Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mark Leary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leary comes to the cage accompanied by Dangermouse. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leary dodges the punch combination from Jackson.
Jackson misses with a hook. Leary ducked under it nicely. Leary looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jackson is fending him off so far but Leary persists. Nope, Jackson circles away and we're back to standing. Leary fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jackson avoids it really well and circles away. Jackson lunges at Leary with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Leary's hand. Jackson fails to land with a series of punches.
Jackson tries to bum rush Leary with a series of wild strikes but Leary uses good footwork to avoid the assault. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leary shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Leary. That's going to take a lot out of him. Leary fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Jackson throws a series of punches but Leary moves out of range.

Jackson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Leary got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jackson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Leary has managed to get both his arms back between Jackson's legs - danger averted. Jackson keeping moving, preventing Leary from controlling successfully. Jackson working for a triangle but Leary defends it easily.

Leary wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Leary drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Leary jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Jackson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Leary wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Leary slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Leary tries to free his leg and advance position but Jackson is retaining full guard. Leary showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Leary trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. The fight moves into the clinch position. Jackson breaks the clinch.
Leary moves out of range of the strikes. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Leary swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jackson catches Leary with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Jackson works the jab nicely. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Brandon Jackson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Jackson misses with a straight right. Leary shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Leary was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Jackson is in all sorts of trouble here.
Leary jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jackson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jackson and Leary has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Leary wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working. Jackson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Leary is trying to get an arm triangle but Jackson is defending well.

Jackson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Leary is working away from the top position though. Jackson wants to get back to full guard. Jackson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Leary is working for a kimura but Jackson is defending it quite comfortably.

Leary pushes Jackson against the cage but Jackson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Leary fails to land the takedown. Jackson lands with a straight right. Leary didn't see that one coming. Jackson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Leary showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jackson.
Jackson stalks Leary and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Leary's face. Leary staggers backwards, shaken.

Leary is working away from the top position though. Jackson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Leary pulls his head out easily. Leary seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Jackson actively working from the bottom here.
