Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jon Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, No Chance! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Chance shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jackson defends it nicely. Chance misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet. Jon Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of No Chance. Horrible takedown by Chance or perhaps it was just good defense by Jackson which made him look bad. Jackson throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Chance shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Nice takedown defense from Jackson. No joy for Chance on that attempt. Chance tries for a takedown but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jackson moves out of range as Chance strikes. Jackson gets caught flat footed, as Chance shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chance drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Chance jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson wants to stand but Chance is controlling the position. Chance thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Chance looks gassed! Chance stops Jackson from standing up. Chance controls from within his opponent's guard. Chance trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Chance trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Chance looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jackson is fending him off so far but Chance persists. Nope, Jackson circles away and we're back to standing. Chance closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jackson did well to prevent Chance getting side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson kicks off Chance and gets to his feet. Chance shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Jon Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Chance takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jackson misses with a kick to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Chance. Jackson misses with an attempted mid kick.
No Chance seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chance looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Jackson! Jackson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Chance pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Chance looking to isolate an arm here. Jackson doesn't see it coming and as Chance extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Chance!
