Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Crusty Pelican!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Raul Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Pelican misses the target.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sanchez is looking to clinch but Pelican is avoiding it.
Sanchez slips a jab from Pelican.
Sanchez misses with a two punch combination.
Pelican misses with a looping right.
Sanchez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Pelican thows a left - swing and a miss!
Pelican throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sanchez tries to clinch but Pelican moves out of range.
Pelican looks to land a left hand but Sanchez moved out of range nicely.

Sanchez moves into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pelican is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Sanchez's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Sanchez blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Sanchez is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Pelican is defending well for now.

Pelican lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Pelican has hold of one of Sanchez's legs. Sanchez is fighting the takedown attempt but Pelican gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Pelican might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sanchez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pelican has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sanchez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sanchez wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Pelican thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Pelican distracts Sanchez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Pelican postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sanchez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pelican, into his guard.
Sanchez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Pelican has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Sanchez doesn't defend quickly enough and Pelican has managed to lock this one up! Can Sanchez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Pelican on a fantastic submission victory.
